Cedar Creek Recovery Philosophy

Cedar Creek Recovery provides a safe and supportive atmosphere to help you recover from alcohol and substance abuse addictions. In a residential setting, you will utilize the 12-step program to help them through the different stages of recovery. Daily schedules are individually tailored to meet the specific needs of each client's recovery goals and include therapy sessions, recreational activities, and nutritional and fitness guidance.

Areas of Specialization

  • 12-Step
The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.

  • Aftercare Support
Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.

Located in Manor, Texas, about 20 miles northeast of Austin, Cedar Creek Recovery provides a full continuum of treatment plans for adults struggling with substance abuse. It is one of the 36 (8.4 percent) facilities in the state to offer detox services, along with being amongst the 193 (44.8 percent) treatment centers in Texas with programming for individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders.

Available from 30 to 90 days, residential treatment care (RTC) follows a traditional 12-step based approach, while the center’s unique life skills curriculum – AVEnues – guides outpatient clients towards a successful recovery through academics, volunteering, and employment. Aftercare services are also available.

According to the facility's website, as a first step for many, detoxification affords clients the proper time and place to assess their conditions and needs before heading into treatment. Once physically stable, clients in RTC begin working with their assigned therapist and case manager, who help build individualized treatment plans.

Whether in treatment for 30 or 90 days, programming includes off-site 12-step meetings, individual counseling, and group therapy sessions designed to help with relapse prevention, communication skills, meditation and relaxation, and relationships.

Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs, each available as step-down levels of care, aim to increase and improve clients’ range and depth of life skills. Through participation in the skills-based AVEnues, clients can earn their G.E.D. or certificate from a vocational program, volunteer in the community, and practice mock interviews and targeted job searches.

Understanding the wide impact addiction can have, the facility also involves clients’ loved ones in its Family Recovery Program. Successful graduates also have access to continuing care for an additional year. Typically, this consists of follow-up calls and alumni events.

The center's website notes the treatment team is led by a board-certified physician who has more than a decade of experience in clinical, academic, and administrative psychiatry and medicine. Many of Cedar Creek’s staff members, therapists and case managers alike, are also in recovery.

The facility's website notes the facility’s “team of culinary experts” prepare healthy, balanced meals daily, and clients have access to a gym, fitness classes, and outdoors recreation. Pictures on the treatment center’s webpage depict fully-furnished rooms, common areas with couches, a spacious, modern kitchen, and a working garden.

The single alum surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided positive feedback, despite not offering any written commentary. The former client gave five out of five stars in almost every category evaluated, including the staff's level of training and experience, when asked if they would recommend the treatment center, family participation, and counseling options.

The four individuals who left Google reviews for Cedar Creek Recovery at the time of this writing provided an average rating of 4.8 out of five stars.[1] The alum praised the center's staff and noted the effectiveness of the program. "It's a smaller community so I think you gain and sustain more knowledge of your treatment and recovery. The ranch is beautiful and peaceful," S.H. representatively wrote.

The two staff members polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided similarly positive feedback. They both gave five out of five stars when asked if they would recommend CCR, the staff's level of training and experience, level of family participation, and the facility's ability to treat co-occurring disorders.

"CCR is an excellent place for you or a loved to receive treatment," an anonymous staff member wrote. "The staff is highly knowledgeable in the treatment of co-occuring disorders, grief, trauma therapy and CCR meets each and every client right "where they are at". Every staff member treats you, the client, with the utmost dignity and respects."

The other staff member echoed that statement. "The program is managed by a professional team that truly cares about their clients recovery," they wrote. When asked about the center's weaknesses, the staff members mentioned its location and the lack of variety in activities.

Cedar Creek Recovery's webpage maintains that, “many times the patient’s insurance covers the whole cost of treatment leaving very little out of pocket expense."

The facility has many amenities in their program. Executive staff. Front line employees were fun to work with but the executive staff made it unbearable to work there.

CCR is an excellent place for you or a loved to receive treatment. The staff is highly knowledgeable in the treatment of co-occuring disorders, grief, trauma therapy and CCR meets each and every client right "where they are at". Every staff member treats you, the client, with the utmost dignity and respects and recognizes that healing and long term recovery comes from exploring the broken places inside of us all. CCR offers both 12 step and SMART Recovery options. More variety in health and wellness activities.

Amazing location and caring staff. Located in a rural area outside of Austin. The program is managed by a professional team that truly cares about their clients recovery.
