ABOUT CENIKOR FOUNDATION — WACO, TX
Founded in 1967, Cenikor Foundation is a private, nonprofit behavioral health organization that offers a full continuum of care to adults and adolescents through its eleven facilities in Texas and Louisiana.
The Waco facility, located in a suburban, residential neighborhood in northwestern Waco, offers detox services and short-term inpatient treatment for adults.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The medical detox program provides round-the-clock medical support, individual counseling, and stabilization services.
The short-term residential program for adults is designed to provide non-emergency care. Services include assessment and screening, individual and group counseling, life skills training, and education for family members; each client follows an individualized program made up of these component parts. Though the short-term inpatient program does not specify 12-step participation as part of treatment, other Cenikor Foundation programs do advise 12-step participation, indicating that the organization supports the movement’s philosophy, and an alum’s loved one polled by Rehabs.com indicated that treatment at this facility was based on the 12-Steps.
There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff, however the three individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the staff’s level of training and experience gave it two four-star ratings and a five-star rating out of five.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, however, the four individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the center average ratings of 4.5 stars, four stars, and 4.25 stars respectively for its accommodations, meals, and cleanliness.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews directly from alumni of this facility, however, secondary review sites do yield some coverage, and at the time of this writing it was almost exclusively positive. Spread between Google and YellowPages.com, the center had six five-star reviews, two four-star reviews, and a one-star review (with ratings on both pages being graded out of five). The single negative reviewer, writing on Google, cited over-medication; however, the positive reviewers repeatedly described the facility as life-changing and praised its staff. “The facility and staff are absolutely amazing! This is a place, that if you're serious enough about getting clean and helpful resources, that is more than willing and able to help you… They saved my life and I absolutely love them in every way possible!” Jackie wrote in a representative review on Google.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
All four of the loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date would recommend this facility. Of those four loved ones, three were polled on the facility’s performance in a variety of treatment metrics; all three gave the center four stars for its exercise and leisure provisions and its counseling options; the family program fared more poorly, with two two-star ratings and a four-star rating. In their comments, the reviewers repeatedly described attentive care, and noted that the facility stayed in close contact with family members throughout the individual’s stay. “Availability at any time to talk to someone… They helped the family member get over over the drug addiction and have a positive attitude,” one anonymous reviewer wrote in a representative review. One reviewer was also pleased that some staff were in recovery. In the only note of criticism, one loved one expressed concern about small meal portion sizes.
WHAT STAFF SAY
At the time of this writing, secondary employment review sites yielded mixed-to-positive feedback of Cenikor as a whole (as opposed to this facility in particular), with average ratings of 3.4 stars based on 46 reviews on Indeed.com and 4.1 stars based on 13 reviews on Glassdoor. There was little in the reviews that might illuminate the quality of care, other than a repeated sense that staff were dedicated to and inspired by their work. “Working with clients and helping they work on tools to maintain sobriety. I learned that helping others is the most rewarding thing I have ever done,” one anonymous reviewer wrote in a representative review on Indeed.
Cenikor accepts Medicaid, private insurance, and self-pay. The organization has preferred provider agreements with insurers including but not limited to Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Humana. The three individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center’s affordability gave it two five-star ratings and a four-star rating.
