Located in central Lincoln, Neb., CenterPointe offers nearly 30 programs to assist individuals experiencing low income and homelessness, including those struggling with chemical dependency. Long-term and short-term residential programs provide treatment for men and women struggling with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Detoxification services are not provided.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Approaching addiction as a chronic disease, treatment at CenterPointe supports physical, psychological, and social recovery with particular emphasis on clients who have received a dual diagnosis. In addition to its core programming, clients are also encouraged to participate in a 12-step program or to pursue other means of spiritual wellness.
Residential rehab and transitional housing programs last six to eight months and incorporate multiple daily group sessions, including education, skills development such as budgeting and cooking, dialectical behavior therapy, and recreational therapy, on- and off-campus. Psychiatric and nursing care are available, and loved ones are encouraged to participate in the recovery process.
A 45-day residential program called Touchstone applies the same model as longer-term treatment. Clients may also choose outpatient care, which may include counseling, psychiatric treatment, and medication management.
Trained and untrained artists may participate in a creative arts program designed to support individuals struggling with mental illness and substance abuse. Several other community support groups are available as well as housing support for diverse individuals, including veterans.
Among the more than 180 employees referenced on the facility’s website, several have worked with CenterPointe for more than 15 years. The treatment team’s director is a master’s-level licensed alcohol and drug counselors and independent mental health practitioners.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
There are 10 CenterPointe facilities located in Lincoln, in addition to coordinated housing, and another facility recently opened in Omaha. Adults aged 19 and over share rooms in the short-term and long-term rehab facilities, which are set on tobacco-free campuses. According to the organization’s website, rehab centers are “discreetly located.”
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Although Rehabs.com has not yet received any feedback from alumni to date, reviews sourced from secondary review sites were positive. One Google, regarding the outpatient clinic in Lincoln, five individuals gave the facility an average rating of 4.2 out of five stars. "It really is a good and helpful place, especially with regard to their 24/7 helpline and their crisis counseling any during open hours," Clint, a representative reviewer, wrote.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
To date, Rehabs.com has received survey responses from three loved ones. Two loved ones provided very positive reviews, offering four or five out of five-star ratings for the effectiveness of treatment, the level of staff training and experience, opportunities for family participation, and the facility's counseling options. "They also help with counseling after care,help with rent and utilities," one loved one wrote.
The third respondent’s feedback was generally positive, but provided several more neutral ratings. Asked to rate their likelihood on a scale of one to five to recommend the program to others, the loved one chose three stars. "I still think they should have more counseling available after release," the loved one wrote. The two other family members identified the aftercare program as a strength.
WHAT STAFF SAY
A total of 31 current and former employees shared overwhelmingly favorable perspectives on Glassdoor and Indeed. In a representative review, one wrote: “The staff really cares about the patients.” Several also indicated that staff believe in the importance of their work.
One Glassdoor reviewer would not recommend the facility, based on criticisms of the management. However, this perspective was countered by three reviews on Indeed, each of which represented management as supportive and open to new ideas and concerns, which also suggests a common commitment to the program’s mission. A single alum reported the high number of part-time staff as a weakness.
According to its website, CenterPointe offers a sliding fee scale for qualifying individuals and also accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance.
