ABOUT CHATEAU RECOVERY IN MIDWAY, UT
From a leafy street in small-town Midway, in the foothills of Utah's Wasatch Mountains, Chateau Recovery treats adult men and women struggling with substance use disorder or a dual diagnosis. The center offers a multidisciplinary residential treatment program, but medical detox is not available on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The length of treatment varies according to the client's needs, but Chateau Recovery can accommodate residents for up to 90 days — positioning the center among the 26.4 percent of Utah-based facilities that offer residential treatment lasting longer than 30 days.
To be admitted, clients may either call the facility directly or fill out an inquiry form on the Chateau Recovery website. The center's program pursues a "whole self" approach to addiction recovery, drawing from evidence-based clinical practices, extensive holistic offerings, and 12-step and/or SMART Recovery principles — though the center stresses that it avoids applying the 12-steps or any other program as a "one size fits all" approach. In facilitating the 12-Steps at all, the center is among the 66.1 percent of Utah-based facilities that use the program.
To modify destructive behavioral and thinking patterns, the center uses evidence-based methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and rational-emotive behavioral therapy (REBT). Each week, residents participate in two individual therapy sessions and five group therapy sessions.
Outside of traditional therapy, residents can participate in a therapeutic canine training program, yoga three times a week, outdoor exploration and sporting events. The facility also offers an "addict to athlete" sports training program. More traditional holistic methods in use at the facility include meditation and art therapy.
The treatment team at Chateau Recovery includes a board-certified doctor, a registered nurse, a social worker, and substance misuse counselors. The four individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the staff all gave perfect five-star ratings.
Staff Experience and Training: 5/5
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
With 16 beds, Chateau Recovery is significantly smaller than the state average of 28 beds per residential rehab facility. Residents live in a large, family-style home, where they share bedrooms and have access to landscaped gardens and a shared kitchen. Balanced meals are served daily. The four individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center's cleanliness and extracurricular activities were very impressed.
Exercise and Leisure: 5/5
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
All four of the alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date gave stellar feedback on Chateau Recovery. The reviewers repeatedly praised the center's highly individualized program, writing that the whole-self approach really helped them access and address the root of their problems. "Not only is it in an amazing location, I love that it is so individualized. They designed a program for me and around my specific needs," C.H. wrote in a representative comment.
The reviewers also repeatedly praised the center's beautiful, serene environment. "I loved being in the mountains, it was so peaceful," wrote a different C.H. in another representative review.
The single alum polled on the facility's performance in a variety of treatment metrics gave it five-star ratings in most of the evaluated treatment metrics, including the overall quality of its individual and group counseling and its holistic inclusions.
Chateau Recovery also has overwhelmingly positive feedback on secondary sites, with average ratings of 4.8 out of five stars based on 25 reviews on Facebook (where the facility can manage its own page) and 4.9 stars based on 56 reviews on Google, plus single five-star ratings on Yelp and YellowPages.com.
The reviewers repeatedly echoed those polled by Rehabs.com, emphasizing the center's individualized approach and healing environment. "I have more than my fair share of rehab experience, but what makes the Chateau so unique from any others is the fact that they don't just hand you an AA Big Book and wish you luck. They give options and understand that sobriety and recovery modalities are not one-size-fits-all," Carolyn wrote in a representative review on Yelp.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Both of the loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date gave similarly glowing feedback. B.A.J., the single loved one polled on the facility's performance in a variety of treatment metrics, gave the center five stars in most of the evaluated areas, including its family participation, counseling options, and ability to treat co-occurring disorders. B.A.J. echoed alumni polled by Rehabs.com by praising the center's focus on the individual, writing: "Chateau Recovery was an excellent facility that encourages and empowers their clientele to push themselves to follow their own path to change, wellness, and meaning."
"My daughter stayed at chateau for 3 months and came out a new person," K.B. wrote in the other glowing review.
WHAT STAFF SAY
All five staff members polled by Rehabs.com left mostly positive feedback. The anonymous staff members all gave the facility five out of five stars for its affordability, cleanliness, and exercise and leisure options. When asked about strengths of the facility, several employees mentioned that Chateau Recovery does a great job of individualizing recovery plans.
Another reviewer wrote, “Chateau transitions clients away from short-term external motivation that is often rooted in fear, manipulation, and instant gratification. They help fortify long-term and internal forms of lasting motivation that provide direction and self-mastery.” When asked about weaknesses of the facility, one employee noted that the facility was not in-network with any insurance providers
There is currently no information provided by Chateau Recovery regarding its costs. However, the facility provides a free insurance check, indicating that benefits can be used on at least an out-of-network basis. The four individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center's affordability were very impressed:

MTChateau Recovery is an amazing treatment facility. They truly do individualize treatment. Chateau’s values of acceptance, compassion and empowerment shine through with every staff and client interaction. Amazing program, beautiful facility.
KevinAmazing staff. Strength: Individual tx
BAJMultiple ways to recovery. Options and recovery tools were nice. Experienced and gifted therapists. It's a long drive if you live locally. They could further diversify the menu. Chateau Recovery was an excellent facility that encourages and empowers their clientele to push themselves to follow their own path to change, wellness, and meaning.
BWChateau is very good at personalizing recovery - offering as many tools and resources as possible and allowing the residents to pick and choose the ones that will work best for their recovery. Not in-network with any insurance companies. Unable to work with one of the most prominent companies in Utah. The best thing about Chateau Recovery is their treatment approach. They spend more time focusing on the core issues that are actually driving the addiction - grief, shame, depression, anxiety and more serious personality disorders. People learn more about how they view the world and how to deal with stressful emotions in a positive, healthy way.
RSCaring people, knowledgeable staff, ability to individualize treatment
EASIndividualized treatment plans Distance from competitive job market With therapy, comprehensive support and practice, Chateau transitions clients away from short-term external motivation that is often rooted in fear, manipulation, and instant gratification. They help fortify long-term and internal forms of lasting motivation that provide direction and self-mastery. They teach that openness, empathy, and commitment to values are the way forward for those who want a life filled with bliss and connectedness.
JNNew and innovative. Now stuck in the old belief that 12 steps are the answer. Great understanding of dual-daignosis and how to challenge old thinking
JamesI I have been through treatment a number of times over the years, and although each program I have been to had their benefits, Chateau Recovery was the first program that took the time to get to the root of what was fueling my addiction and work with me to address it. Their approach is very different in the fact that it was not just about the addiction, it was about helping me to identify my values and what I wanted out of life, and then to put together a plan, that was my plan, and support me as I worked to implement that plan. It was the first program that I felt was truly individualized to what I needed. I really appreciated the fact that they provided so much variety in treatment and exposed me to, and taught me skills that have not only aided in my recovery, but helped me to be a better person. I have been able to maintain the meditation practice that I learned while at the Chateau, which has helped me deal with the day to day stressors that used to drive me to use. The staff at the Chateau never made me feel like I was broken or inferior in any way, but supported me and provided an environment where I was able to make the necessary changes to get my life back on track. I would recommend the Chateau to anyone, especially to those who have tried other treatment and want something more tailored to their specific needs.
BCChateau is the only one that truly embraces the one-size-does-not-fit-all philosophy and is the most individualized rehab out there. It meets everything on your checklist!
CHI chose the Chateau because my good friend had a very good experience there and she highly recommended it. I highly recommend the Chateau. Not only is it in an amazing location, I love that it is so individualized. They designed a program for me and around my specific needs. They taught me to believe in myself and that I was enough. The staff was so supportive and made me face my fears. I will forever be grateful for the time I spent at the Chateau. I finally feel like me again.
KBMy daughter stayed at chateau for 3 months and came out a new person. She learned how to cope with the past and look in to the future in a very positive way. We are very proud of her and the recovery center was the best thing for her. The staff are great and they have the best cook in town.
CHI didn't like the direction my life was heading. I didn't know who I was and I felt completely lost. A friend told me about the experience she had at The Chateau and she was right, it was the perfect place for me. I loved being in the mountains, it was so peaceful. The staff and therapists were so supportive & the other residents became family. They helped me find myself again. I love who I am now, I don't ever want to feel that lost again.
