Cold Creek Behavioral Health Philosophy
Cold Creek Behavioral Health is a nationally accredited, non 12-step drug and alcohol addiction treatment program. We offer a full range of the most successful evidence-based therapies. Cold Creek’s treatment programs are based on the Bio-Psycho-Social and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment models that are recognized by Columbia University and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. These models view addiction as a disease while taking into consideration that there are Biological, Psychological, and Sociological factors to consider when treating addiction. We offer dual diagnosis treatment, which means we treat addiction and mental health issues at the same time and in the same setting. All of our limited enrollment programs offer individual treatment where only 8-10 clients are treated at a time. This ensures clients receive the individual counseling, and personal attention in a beautiful setting that balances healing and recovery.
Areas of Specialization
Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.
A form of animal therapy, equine therapy involves visiting, working with and sometimes riding horses as a way to create a metaphoric relationship that leads to life-altering insights.

ABOUT COLD CREEK LODGE
Cold Creek Behavioral Health is a private provider offering a full spectrum of services to adults struggling with substance use disorder or a dual diagnosis. The organization's main facility is its detox and residential treatment center, located near the Brighton Ski Resort. Day treatment, intensive outpatient programming, and sober living homes are available in the nearby communities of Kaysville and Holladay.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment begins with a medical and clinical assessment that's used to create an individualized treatment plan. Residential treatment typically lasts 30 days, though this can vary depending on the client's needs, and some clients stay up to 60 days, positioning the center among the 26.4 percent of Utah rehabs that offer residential treatment lasting more than 30 days.
Cold Creek is also among the 33.9 percent of Utah-based facilities that do not use the 12-steps. Instead, the program is built around evidence-based techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). The center also incorporates a range of holistic and experiential therapies, such as equine therapy, breath work, and adventure therapy. All clients also receive a gym membership.
Following residential treatment, clients can taper their program through day treatment or intensive outpatient (IOP) programming, with optional sober living homes. Once they've finished formal programming, graduates receive a lifetime of aftercare.
Cold Creek Lodge employs a board-certified medical doctor, psychiatric nurses, social workers, therapists, addiction counselors, and an equine therapist, among other supportive professionals. Many staff members are themselves in recovery, and Cold Creek is among the 26.8 percent of Utah-based facilities that are accredited by the Joint Commission. To date, the five individuals polled on the matter by Rehabs.com praised the aptitude of staff.
