Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula - The Recovery Center of Monterey, Calif. offers outpatient-based treatment to adult men and women struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health concerns. The Recovery Center is a part of the larger Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula, which was first founded in 1934.

The facility’s treatment program follows the 12-step model of recovery. In addition, treatment plans include education classes, skill-building workshops, and a strong family component. If necessary, physicians can provide medical detox on an outpatient basis, making it part of the 14% of facilities in California that offer medical detox.

Throughout treatment, clients participate in individual and group therapy, family therapy sessions, and are educated on self-help and relapse prevention. Participants may receive medication to help with addiction and withdrawal following an evaluation and consultation.

Aftercare is available for all clients who successfully complete the program. Alumni are eligible to receive services as outlined in their individual recovery plan tailored to meet their specific needs. There is also program for clients following aftercare to help alumni stay substance-free.

I enjoyed the family involvement. Family activities were Al-Anon and group therapy sessions. The staff was also very supportive.
