For half a century, Connecticut Renaissance has provided treatment for individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Treatment programs, including residential rehab for adult males and outpatient treatment for all adults and adolescents, are offered in Bridgeport, Norwalk, Stamford, and Waterbury. CT Renaissance coordinates services with the department of corrections, the state department of mental health and addiction, and other social service agencies for some clients.

At each level of care, treatment is evidence-based and, according to this organization's website, focused on holistic, or "whole person," recovery. Programs incorporate individual and group therapy, education about addiction and mental illness, family therapy, and introduction to community-based 12-step practices. The central therapeutic models applied are cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and a Matrix Model, the latter of which incorporates drug testing. TARGET, a trauma-focused model, is employed in adolescent treatment.

Two men's residential programs of three to six months offer assistance with reintegration in society through housing and employment planning. A third 30- to 45-day residential program particularly serves clients who have received a dual diagnosis, providing medication management along with group-based therapies.

Among several special topics addressed in residential and outpatient treatment programs are stress and anger management and life skills.

Most treatment staff members hold master's degrees, according to the facility's website, and many are in recovery. Areas of expertise include grief and loss, anxiety and depression, marriage and family, and compulsive gambling.

All three residences are located in Waterbury. Renaissance West serves men involved in the court system, Renaissance East is located in a former convent, and the McCauliffe Center co-occurring residential program serves men who are staying in four Renaissance five-person apartments.

Outpatient programs are based in Bridgeport, including the majority of sessions held for both adults and adolescents in a modern building during day and evening hours.

Survey responses from the sole alum polled by at the time of this writing contrasted with the two Google reviews available. Identifying counseling and the provision of a support system as strengths, the respondent awarded perfect five-star ratings for all metrics measuring accommodations, effectiveness of treatment, the level of staff training and experience, and affordability. Representing their experience at one of the Renaissance residential facilities, two reviewers gave just one out of five stars on Google; one reported disengaged staff.[1]

On CiteHealth, a sole reviewer of one of the residences provided no specific complaints, but represented their loved one as having a generally bad experience at CT Renaissance.[2]

Of 11 Indeed reviews by current or former employees, only one was strongly critical. Most presented a picture of staff committed to the mission of CT Renaissance and a positive work environment. A few commented on low pay and concerns with management.[3]

According to the facility's website, Medicaid, Medicare, and many commercial insurance plans are accepted in-network and a sliding fee scale is available for qualifying uninsured clients.
