ABOUT CORNERSTONE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CENTER — MILESTONE ADDICTION SERVICES
Cornerstone Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) is owned by Grant-Blackford, a private not-for-profit corporation that operates 21 locations in Grant and Blackford Counties, Ind., treating people of all ages who are struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Milestone Addiction Services, one of its foremost locations, is situated on a quiet street toward the south of the small city of Marion, midway between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, and offers outpatient care for adults and adolescents. CBHC also offers short-term inpatient treatment for substance abuse, though it’s not clear whether this is available at the Milestone center or another property in the network.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Cornerstone’s inpatient program is short-term and, according to the facility’s website, intended for individuals who “have lost the capacity to maintain a desirable level of functioning due to emotional distress/illness, chemical dependency.” The primary goal of inpatient care is to aid clients during their time of crisis and return them to the community as soon as possible.
Outpatient care, which is offered in the longer-term, takes the form of intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) with one specifically for adults and one for adolescents. Treatment addresses the psychological and physical effects of addiction, family and social interaction, and overall wellness, as well as offering education and continuing care. Case management — supporting clients with education, employment, housing, and medication — is provided as needed.
Grant-Blackford employs more than 170 people, who collectively treat more than 3,000 outpatients and 600 inpatients every year. There is currently no further information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff, however, the eight individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the staff’s level of training and experience gave it an average rating of 4.1 out of five stars.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Alumni opinions of CBHC are mixed. Of the three alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date, one would strongly recommend this facility, and two would not recommend it. One alum rated the staff's level of training and experience, exercise and leisure, family participation and connectivity the maximum five-stars, while the other two alumni were more negative, giving these metrics three stars or less.
The alum who left a positive review praised the facility's location and the professional demeanor of the staff. "Cornerstone has individual counseling along with group sessions," the alum wrote, going on to give counseling options a high four out of five stars.
In further criticism another alum, Scott, wrote: “To much court ordered people who have zero desire to get better. Been a,while since I was there so it may be better, I don't know, but when I went as as self referral it was a money mill." Additionally, the other alum who gave a mixed to negative review felt that the facility was not worth the cost.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The four friends or family members polled by Rehabs.com at time of writing wrote that they would strongly recommend the facility, leaving generally positive reviews. They gave the center an average rating of 4.225 out of five stars for its counseling options, three stars for the facility's exercise and leisure options, three stars for the facility's affordability, and 2.75 stars for the holistic offerings.
Opinions regarding the facility's family participation was mixed, receiving an average of only three out of five stars. One alum felt the visits were short, and wished to have helped their loved one more intimately during their treatment.
Regardless, the loved ones praised other aspects of the facility, particularly the staff's level of training and experience, which received a perfect five-star average rating. "The staff are concerned about people," One anonymous loved one wrote. Even the one loved one who gave low one-star ratings for family participation, cleanliness, and affordability conceded that the facility was "worth it" and that the staff helped their "BF quit his addiction to painkillers."
WHAT STAFF SAY
The single staffer polled by Rehabs.com to date gave generally positive feedback, assigning the facility three- and four- out of five star ratings in most of the evaluated treatment metrics. Like the loved ones, the staffer praised the "Great staff thats qualified for treatments."
According to the facility’s website, nobody is denied services because of an inability to pay. The center accepts Medicaid and private insurance, and offers a sliding fee scale. The eight individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center’s affordability gave it an average rating of 2.9 out of five stars.
