ABOUT COVENANT RECOVERY, INC.

Located in Pine Bluff, Ark., 42 miles south of Little Rock, Covenant Recovery is a substance misuse treatment facility offering transitional living services for adult men and women struggling with chemical dependency.

Covenant Recovery operates a second facility in Malvern, Ark., which offers a re-entry program for male prison inmates. According to a 2016 SAMHSA survey, 23 percent of rehabs in Arkansas offer a program for criminal justice clients.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To determine an individual's needs, clients may undergo a vocational/employment and substance misuse assessment upon intake. According to the facility’s website, the Covenant Recovery’s transitional program is a hybrid of outpatient and residential treatment. While the transitional program provides long-term structure, supervision, and support of residential treatment, the facility also offers the freedom to pursue practical goals to prepare for a successful discharge.

Length of stay is typically long-term, lasting anywhere from 30 days to 18 months. According to a 2016 SAMHSA survey, 23.9 percent of rehabs in Arkansas offer long-term (30 days or longer) residential treatment.

Each treatment plan is individualized and includes one-on-one counseling, education classes, and group therapy. Family therapy and educational lectures for loved ones are also available.

Major components of treatment are continuing education, employment, and vocational training as well as an on-site GED course. A 2016 SAMHSA survey indicates that 31.9 percent of non-hospital rehabs in Arkansas offer employment counseling or training for clients.

Additionally Covenant Recovery offers clients with legal issues the services of a court liaison who regularly communicates with courts, judges, and probation officers to address these issues.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, the treatment team is comprised of licensed substance abuse counselors and addiction specialists who have a combined 40 years of experience. All of the counselors are certified through the Arkansas State Board.

An article on Arkansas Democrat Gazette website indicates that the facility is licensed by Arkansas Community Correction, formerly the Department of Community Correction, as a transitional housing facility.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Covenant Recovery’s 6,000 sq. ft. facility can accommodate between 35 and 45 residents, The program is co-ed, however the living quarters and bathing facilities are gender-specific. Bedrooms accommodate multiple residents with bunk bed sleeping arrangements, and clients share closet, desk, and bathroom space. The facility also has an on-site computer lab, recreational and exercise yard, and basketball court. Residents are allowed to visit loved ones off-site on weekends.

There is no staff there from 10pm to 7:30am and there is so much chaos it will drive a sane person crazy."
