Desert Hope Treatment Center Philosophy
Serving the greater Las Vegas area and beyond, Desert Hope tailors patient treatment programs to each individual based on their personal history of substance use, the severity of the substance use disorder, and the presence of any co-occurring mental health disorders. In addition to offering individualized care programs, we offer a continuum of care at several levels from medical detox to outpatient programs. When you’re ready to transition to a lower level of care, we will happily discuss your treatment options and help you experience a seamless, comfortable transition. Desert Hope offers a range of evidence-based therapies aimed at helping you build a strong foundation for your recovery. Our therapies, delivered in both individual and group formats, help you modify your thoughts and behaviors as they relate to drug and alcohol use. Our therapies will also teach you healthy ways to manage and cope with stressful situations that could lead to relapse. From cognitive-behavioral therapy to art therapy, you’ll participate in numerous interventions as part of a multifaceted approach to recovery.
The features available at our treatment center are intended to enhance your stay and make you feel as comfortable as possible as you focus on recovery. From chef-prepared meals that will address any nutritional deficiencies to plenty of fun outdoor recreational activities that will restore your ability to experience fun while sober and make meaningful connections with others, Desert Hope’s wide range of features will not only make your stay more enjoyable but also give you a solid foundation for recovery.
Recovery is a lifelong journey for many; it doesn’t end when treatment ends. Our programs include aftercare planning so you can continue to receive support upon leaving our facility. Continued individual and group therapy sessions and 12-Step groups can give you the support you need during the months and years following your treatment at Desert Hope. We also offer a sober living residence to help those transitioning out of our program who don’t yet feel ready to return home.

Denise Dunn
Executive Clinical Director
Denise Dunn, MA, LADC, has over 35 years working in behavioral healthcare. Her background includes working with working with adjudicated youth, in youth crisis shelters, and working on Federal Office of Treatment Improvement grant projects. Dunn has also held a number of positions working in substance use treatment facilities in standards and compliance and as a case manager, counselor, national trainer, clinical informaticist, and Regional Director of Clinical Excellence and Quality. Denise obtained her MA in Addiction Counseling from Hazelden Graduate School and maintains a license as an alcohol and other drug counselor.
Dr. Amitabh Singh
Medical Director
Dr. Amitabh Singh, M.D., Desert Hope’s Medical Director, earned his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Singh moved to the U.S. to complete his residency in psychiatry at Western Psychiatric Institute, University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Singh is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association. His experience includes acting as the Associate Medical Director, Care Management at Western Psychiatric Institute in Pittsburgh, Chief of Staff Monte Vista Hospital, and Service Director for Sunrise Hospital. Dr. Singh’s extensive experience also includes establishing an ambulatory chemical detoxification clinic in Las Vegas and helping to start Nevada’s Desert Parkway Behavioral Health Care Hospital and acting as the Medical Director there.

ABOUT DESERT HOPE TREATMENT CENTER
Desert Hope Treatment Center in Las Vegas, Nev. is a residential treatment center for adult men and women seeking treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring conditions. It is one of Nevada’s 25 (32.5 percent) of private, for-profit treatment facilities. It is owned and operated by American Addiction Centers. Desert Hope also offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a partial hospitalization program (PHP). Medical detox is available on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Clients at Desert Hope Treatment Center are assigned a customized treatment plan based on their history of substance abuse and co-occurring conditions. Desert Hope recommends 90 days of treatment, though the length of stay depends on the individual. This makes Desert Hope Treatment Center one of Nevada’s 22 (28.6 percent) of long-term treatment facilities.
The treatment process includes a range of therapy methods that are essential to substance abuse treatment. These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT). The treatment staff also uses trauma-informed treatment methods such as seeking safety.
Treatment begins with medical detox as needed and includes individual, group, and family therapy. Individuals participate in gender-specific groups and 12-step programming, which is only available in 57 (74 percent) of Nevada’s treatment facilities.
Desert Hope's curriculum, “Embracing Change: Recovery for Life,” is used for treating co-occurring conditions. Holistic programming in the form of yoga, meditation, and art is offered.
Clients who complete the treatment process join the aftercare program. The aftercare program includes continuing services that focus on the Five Essential Elements program. Clients continue to meet with counselors periodically and attend group meetings. Clients that complete treatment are also allowed an additional, complimentary 30 days of treatment if they relapse.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The staff at Desert Hope Treatment Center includes licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses and physicians, psychologists, social workers, and behavioral health technicians. Desert Hope Treatment Center is one of Nevada’s 13 (16.9 percent) facilities accredited by The Joint Commission, as well as the 18 (23.4 percent) facilities accredited by CARF.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Desert Hope Treatment Center is a modern facility with upscale decor and updated amenities. There is an indoor gym, housekeeping services, and daily meals provided. It sits in the middle of a residential area and has managed outdoor spaces for clients to enjoy. The facility can accommodate 148 clients at a time. Private and shared hotel-style rooms are available.

Many individuals polled gave positive feedback about the care given by staff. Alumni referred to staff as "compassionate," "very well trained," "friendly," "attentive," and "helpful." Commenter B.N.B wrote: "I was very impressed that a lot of the staff were in recovery, so they could relate to what we were going thru."
Despite this positive feedback, there was some negative feedback. Negative commentary mentioned disorganization and a lack of communication between staff. "A downfall was that the groups are repetitive," wrote Erin, "...i felt like my issues were not addressed in therapy." “I didn't get a whole lot of 1 on 1 time with my case worker or therapist,” commented Justin.
Alumni also complained about a lack of holistic/extracurricular activities. A.R. wrote: "The gym equipment needs to be repaired." M.J. added: "Needs more extra curricular activities, such as weekly outings." “There was not enough equipment for exercise and not enough extracurricular activities,” Bryan wrote.
On Google, Desert Hope Addiction Treatment Center has a four out of five star average rating from 164 reviews at the time of this writing.[1] While some alumni wrote how they “left feeling worse than when I arrived,” most of the feedback was positive, citing long term recovery success and “amazing and very helpful” staff.
On Yelp, 44 of the 51 reviews to date were very negative, with a majority of alumni giving only one out of five stars.[2] [3] Reviewers described the facility as “dangerous” and indicated that they felt “Lied to.” Some even went as far as to warn others about coming to the facility, including Mary, who wrote in a representative review: “Don't believe anything positive about this facility! Very unprofessional and they treat everyone regardless of their condition the same.”
On Facebook, where the facility can manage its own page, Desert Hope Treatment Center has an average rating of 4.1 out of five stars from 92 reviews to date.[4] Many alumni indicated that the program was effective and the staff “truly care about the safety and well being of their clients.” Positive feedback was given about the food and facility itself.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Four loved ones surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave Desert Hope mixed reviews. Most of the loved ones indicated satisfaction with holistic offerings, visitor policy, and the level of family participation. “The staff has been amazing at keeping the family updated and have taken excellent care of my loved one,” wrote one anonymous loved one.
However, two loved ones cited problematic therapy sessions. "My daughter said the group sessions were led by unskilled leaders and the once-per-week one-on-sessions were good but not nearly enough," wrote parent W. Another loved one similarly reported a problem with care. “He is at residential level of care. We have not had a family session," Christa wrote. "His therapist says they only provide family sessions to families that live in the state.”
WHAT STAFF SAY
Nine staff members polled by Rehabs.com to date provided praise for Desert Hope regarding the quality of staff and treatment. "Desert Hope provides a comprehensive facility to address the various needs of clients who are seeking recovery," wrote E.O. in a representative review. "The staff is dedicated to assisting clients along their journey in any way they can."

Desert Hope accepts most private insurance plans and offers self-pay and payment plan options.
CONCLUSION
The Nevada Current reported Desert Hope has experienced two client deaths at the facility since 2016. These deaths were reported to and investigated by the state and written about in an article by . One client died in 2016 of suicide, which resulted in a lawsuit by the deceased’s parents, and the other death occurred in 2018 from ethanolism (alcohol poisoning).

Intense but on track and focused. Transition from group setting to independent living to discharge was great 👍🏽
Let me start with the positives: Their hot water is very hot. The nurses are nice and very professional. The gym is impressive. And they will keep you fed and medicated. Everything else at Desert Hope Las Vegas is a train wreck, which is why I transferred to another facility after eight days of not getting the treatment I went for. The place is ¼ labyrinth (no patient orientation at all so be prepared to walk around for days trying to figure out the basic of living and attempting to recover there). It is ¼ asylum (a real “Cuckoo’s Nest vibe). It is ¼ prison (lots of schemes and larcenies being hatched outside in the smoking areas). And it is ¼ high school (lots of kids going to group wearing headphones and running around the grounds with their cliques). If you love yourself or the person you would bring here, then turn around. Do not go through that gate. Go find another place that is at a level of operation to give 100 percent back to the 100 percent one needs to give to recovery. Desert Hope is not that place. I am currently in the process of lodging formal complaints with my insurance provider, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and JCAHO.
They were very patient and understanding towards my loved one. They cared for her very much. The staff and facility were strengths. The cost was quite expensive, even for our economic class.
I am so thankful for the help , care , tools & therapy I received while at Desert Hope. I cannot say enough about this facility! After 26 years of meth addiction I’m approaching my two year clean date on Jan. 23rd 2019. Hands down the best treatment facility I’ve been through.

I feel very disrespected. It's located very centrally the therapists are effective. Needs better living arrangement for coeds.
This was my vey first rehab that I attended at the age of 18, I was the youngest patient during my entire stay so I guess you could say I was the baby of the facility, lol! I'm now a few days from being 20, and I'm still doing good with the addiction that I was initially there to confront. I haven't drank alcohol since July 19, 2017, which is the date I arrived at Desert Hope. The staff was the highlight of my stay, because they're so involved that you tend to develop personal relationships with them. I have to especially thank one staff member for all the knowledge, motivation, hope, & positivity her conversations always gave me. If it wasn't for her, a bad decision I made could've cost me my life. Also, I actually turned 19 while i was there & the kitchen staff made me a cake & everybody sung happy birthday, it was great. I dont get much of that love/kindness thing shown toward me in my everyday life so its something I'll definitely remember forever. The groups are extremely effective, especially when we get into a deep topic. I highly recommend this facility to anyone struggling with any substance abuse. Although I am currently in active addiction, this place saved my life because I still have not had a drink since I discharged on September 4, 2017.. Almost one whole year. & I give all the credit to DH for leading me in the right direction. Even in my current active addiction, I still think about things I learned there, & let me tell you, there's nothing more guiltier than an addict with a body full of drugs & a mind full of AA/Recovery.. Thank you DH for leaving this huge mark on me. I really hope i make it back to see you guys soon.

I am a 27 year old female who has been broken and struggling with addiction for many years. I came to Desert Hope when I knew my life was going to end if I didn't make a change. I was terrified and in withdrawal from opiate dependency but the staff were so supportive and understanding. My detox process was comfortable and I had a say in much of it which is important to me. When I had an individual issue my needs were heard and addressed. The facility is beautiful and the room accommodations and food are terrific as well. I have no reason to sell you on this facility except that I have been to many treatment centers and DH exceeded all of my expectations. The clinical staff is amazing as well as the case managers, housekeepers, groundskeepers, kitchen staff, and front desk. There is a wide variety of extra classes, I enjoyed the yoga, art, music therapy. They also take patients to outings like AA and NA meetings as well as Equine therapy. Unfortunately I am unable to continue onto their residential outpatient program however many friends have transitioned to it and absolutely love it. I wish everyone had the opportunity to go to a program like this. I would recommend it to my family and friends in a heartbeat, and God willing I will not need to return to treatment ever again but if that ever were the case I am happy to know exactly where I would go again!

Devastated by this facility! I took my brother there for detox. They allow these vulnerable patients access to social media, texting, email...while in detox?! Surprised by the lack of help. Forget about calling. I was brushed off twice asking why he has access to these things.
Complete waste of time for my family.

Needs to be better segregation of patient types. When there is young addicted going through detox, causing problems around non-detoxing patients, it makes it difficult to focus on instructors and teaching. There were opportunities to exercise, and attend a yoga class. Exercise facility was unserviceable.

This is an amazing place it saved my life. The staff was wonderful and the seemed to really care. Food not great But then after awhile the nutritionist work things out for me and things were great.

This facility did what I needed to do and helped me deal with my addiction. I think the reception of people treating you depends on the ability of street smarts you have. I had issues with my food allergies and had to refuse to be treated by one of the most arrogant Drs ever. My “caseworker” left my insurance lapse after many attempts to have her help me.

One of the worst places I have had to go away to. The fact that I was supposed to be going there to get help just adds to the struggle. I have been clean since that month. This was in 2016. I hate having to reference staff but some are great and know that the facility is a big mask, if you are the type of person that requires any sort of “by the book” treatment or doesn’t mind feeling like they are at boot camp then you are good to go here. The therapists available I can not speak for due to the fact that I only saw 1 and I didn’t get enough time to spend around him. My items were stolen and the staff doesn’t seem to understand why that or really anything at all for that matter makes you uncomfortable or upset. When you bring up an issue it is as if you are in the hospital asking for painkillers. Your just the crazy addict. I know this place can do good for some. However it left me dropped off at the wrong bus station 3 weeks in spending 2 days in Vegas then transferring to Michaels House where they fully treated me FOR FREE. Not only that. Due to all these complications when I requested to be transferred or at least let me speak with insurance I was restricted from doing so. I was also not told when my insurance called to transfer me 3 times because they did not believe I was getting treatment I needed. Yet they still charged me a full 35k. I am glad I went through this to get to where I am and wouldn’t change it due to where I am now but I gained nothing from this place but 1 week of classes and 2 weeks of therapy which were by the book as can be (which isn’t always a bad thing). The facility treated us like we were in jail when we requested to be transferred. This is not the only reason I chose to leave however was the icing on top when I realized I needed to transfer. The gentleman I spoke with before I left from Desert Hope was helpful and seemed like he genuinely cared and could tell what I was going through. He was the only reason they even gave me my belongings and allowed me to check out (not AMA) which is what they were doing. I can’t even fathom how they thought it best to still charge me, or even morally right. I would say avoid every single one of there centers as the patients there are filled with people who say they have been to the others in dallas and what not. They all say how bad it is there and how Desert Hope isn’t much different. I won’t comment on those because I have no first hand experiences there. Overall performance I wouldn’t even give them a 2 stars even if they were the reason I was clean. Do research on other sites. Ones not funded by the rehabs referral fees.

The nursing staff at Desert Hip where I did my detox there was a handful of nurses I was very happy with but the over all I was very unsatisfied with. They didn't take seriously or seem to care for the physical pain I was not associated with my detox.

I think Desert Hope did help however I feel like if they were to streamline their policies they�d be much more effective. It seems like there were too many disconnects with what was going on. Needs to have better communication among the staff. I came out of a very serious domestic situation and one of the management staff used calling my husband as a threat which was extremely inappropriate. There�s always another answer.

Treatment was a lot better than I expected. I was really nervous and almost didn't go and I'm so glad I did my life is changed because of it desert hope had great meals great workers and I've met people from all over the United States and I'm still friends with a lot of them

I was very impressed with all the quality of the therapists and staff. My 45 day program will no doubt be life changing. As an area resident, I especially appreciate the alumni events and attention to after-care follow up. I am continuing sessions with my inpatient therapist. I stayed in the annex facility at Resolutions.What a joke.The building is something out of the early 80’’s.The patients refer to it as the HOOD!!!!

Great experience. Desert Hope gives you all the tools you need to stay sober after leaving treatment if you so choose! Access to 12 step, location, staff is overall professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Having staff in recovery helps so much! The food was pretty good too. Other than that, PHP/IOP was kind of all over the place. The girls housing situation was unorganized while I was there.

Just like anything, you get out of the program what you put into it. This program works if you work at it. The staff is great, caring, tough, professional and helpful. The facilities are clean and comfortable and the food is delicious. With the food, again, it is as healthy as you make it. You have every option to you to make it healthy or to overdo. It’s your choice.

Desert Hope saved my life. When I came thru the doors I was broken and needed serious help finding myself and who I was again considering I had been in active addiction for so long living a life that wasn’t truly my own. I stayed there in late from Father's Day 2015 thru July 16 of 2015. My stay and experience were, interesting. Shortly after arrival, I was taken to an emergency room for what the doctor at DH felt was a heart problem. When doc explained to me what he felt was a problem, I informed him that that was a normal condition for me. I asked that he wait and call my doctor the next day, he said I must go the the ER. I went hade tests done and was told the same thing by the ER doctor. Again I explained to him the same thing and asked that DH be called to come pick me up. I was told by DH that they couldn't come get me because I was leaving AMA. Now I am there with no money ( DH took my wallet and all IDs, including my medical card) so I had no where to go. This is around one or two AM. I proceeded to try to walk back to the rehab center. The days highs at the time of my stay there were 110 plus degrees. Needles to say, I got lost and couldn't find anyone who every heard of Desert Hope. Around 10 or 11 in the morning I stopped at a elderly home and asked if the knew where it was, and they looked it up online and gave me directions. The also let me drink a couple of bottles of water while I was there. Again I started my trek. I walk back out towards the road and needed to sit. Next thing I know I wake up to two ambulances parked in front of me. Wished back to a Hospitol. I am finally brought back to DH. Long story short, I made the best of my stay there and succeeded in becoming sober. I saw a cardiologist there three times. The last time, on July 16th, I was told that I needed to have a procedure done to see if I needed stent put in. He say I needed done very soon. The next day he said he would do the procedure and it was best to do it that quick. Back at DH, I told the doc there what I was told and I needed to get back home, ASAP. I very nervous now, but doc said I could complete my stay and leave on the following the 23rd of July. I said the needed to release me on medical because of that cardiologist. Was finally allowed to go. I called my doctor upon arrival home to set up an appointment because of what I was told. He had received all the records and an appointment was set for three weeks later. He was not concerned at what he saw. Nor was the cardiologist my doctor sent me to, who also called the Vegas cardiologist a, his words, a "Cath farmer".
My rehab treatment was adequate for what I put into it. A few of the classes were very helpful and I got a lot out of them. Some I just could not handle, so I didn't participate. That's on me. I have been sober since the early morning hours of Fathers Day, 2015. I thank them for that. I know this was long, and I still gave the rating I did, because I took from them what I needed to understand and succeed. I did. Thank you Desert Hope

I really appreciate all the employees here at Desert Hope. My therapist is amazing and actually has a positive effect on me after every process group. Desert Hope did for me what I could not do alone. The atmosphere of recovery is awesomethe facility is far above standard. Staff was always available for me to discuss my recovery any time I needed to. Workout area has both cardio equipment and free weights. Meals are prepared by chefs. This place makes a difference!

Great program, great facility, great faculty, I just chose not to work the program to my fullest extent which ended in my relapse but I'm now 18 months clean and without Desert Hope I would never have come back to recovery after my relapse
My experience at desert hope was great. The staff was amazing. All of the employees truly care about you from the ceo all the way down to the cleaning staff. Everybody was always there for you when you needed anything. Before I even met some of the staff they already knew my name. A lot of the people working there are in recovery them selfs so they can relate and truly know how it is. Versus people that went to school and read about it. I have no complaints.

I see you must review my comments before they are posted. I am not surprised. You don’t want anyone to know the truth. You are not a dual DX facility as I was told. Your food was awful and I lost weight. I could hardly walk. My son in law is a physician. You lied!!!!!
Where do I start. I didn’t feel physically safe there. Staff liked to pass the buck any time you had an important question. The therapist was unhelpful in catering to personal needs. The BHTs would not follow curriculum and just talk about themselves. There was a sewage issue and an entire floor smelled horrible. They advertised PTSD treatment but only had one meeting a week for it if that. Their idea of dual diagnoses was just to prescribe more medications to the patients. I can go on and on. This was my 3rd treatment facility so I had an idea of what to expect and was highly disappointed. Do not go here
The mission statement of this place should be "We'll do our best to collect all the insurance money we can for your addiction, and if we help you in the process, BONUS!"
Desert Hope was what I have been searching for after several attempts at different facilities. The staff was very patient and helpful and the Therapist was able to diagnose several underlying issues that had kept me sick. My 45 days here have given me hope at a full and healthy recovery.
Worst experience ever! Far from luxury and terrible meals. Every day all the court ordered addicts walk around like zombies. Never allowed to even watch television. When I ended up at the hospital after no one could find me for 2 hours at the airport I never even had a meal after 8 hrs. Then was referred by the hospital to go directly home to my doctors the security guard refused for 40 minutes to return my cell phone and lied and said it was inside somewhere when it was in his pocket! I had to threaten to call the police to get it back. By the time I got to the airport my flight had already left and I had to pay another $350, for a flight home on top of what I already paid for a ticket! Then Desert Hope never sent my prescription medicine and heart pills until a week later. What a rip off they billed thousands for a urinalysis and I reported them to the BBB and my insurance company. I was told by addiction network that I was going to a facility for police, emt's, firefighter's etc that had addictions do to the high stress of their jobs. Trust me they are all liars and they had a young lady there scared half to death. This place was crazy and I never received an apology from this place only excessive, overcharged bills! They just want to rip you off, horrible experience I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Please look elsewhere, there other good reviews are fake as hell!
I received excellent care at this facility and would highly recommend it. They saved my life and gave me one beyond my wildest dreams.
One employee that works in the apartments for the IOP is rude and disrespectful. I have said hi to her everyday and she just looks at me. She is like this to everyone even her coworkers. During one of the meetings we went to she sat in the back continuously talking, the even had to ask them to be quiet. We all know she is using her food stamp card for her wedding, a good role model. She is constantly on her cell phone. I don't think she likes her job.
I think that some of the strengths are the staff, a majority of the classes and Miss Jacklyn in Crisis Prevention office is awesome. communication could use some work. If I were to relapse and need to come back to treatment I would come back here to Desert Hope. I highly recommend Desert Hope to anyone who is seeking treatment.
I think the strengths are the cleanliness and the food. The safety aspect is great. The curriculum is great too!! The staff is phenomenal. Too much music therapy. Overall my experience has been absolutely great! I would definitely send my family or friends here. No body likes to be told what to do but when were here we need to listen because it will all make sense in the end. Desert Hope and the staff working here saved my life.
I think that the strong points are: having a schedule to follow, getting up at the same time everyday and following the schedule. The groups are very beneficial. My therapist could have been around more but I do understand that we are all human and have things we need to take care of. The staff at Desert Hope with fight to save your life even when you don't.
I think that the food is great! Process groups are awesome and it's overall a very comfortable stay. I think that the one on ones could use a little work. I recommend Desert Hope!! If you stay and finish your treatment you can be a success.
The amenities are nice the facility is very well kept. The staff is nice, this facility offers great leisure activities for the clients and the rooms are like hotel rooms with housekeeping services. More staff If you take this place serious you can get a lot out of it. You et what you put in, the help is here if you want it.
The food is excellent. Rooms are very nice and spacious. Free time is good. Outside AA Meetings are an option. Was there in late 2014. Have been sober everyday since I left. Great staff, Nice rooms, Awesome Food. If you're serious about treatment. This is the place to be.

We treat people every day who are detoxing from different classes of drugs and also alcohol. We look forward to your involvement in our vivid alumni activities.
The staff is very pleasant, the groups are helpful. I 've been to a bunch of different rehabs and I think that this is the nicest, its easy to work with the therapists and other staff.
The fact that there are people in recovery who teach groups and assist us here at Desert Hope and help prepare us for what to expect when we get out into the real world. Too much chicken. Always stay positive because when you are positive other people gravitate towards you and share their experience strength and hope.
The facility is very strong with staying consistent with the rules and regulations I feel the facility does not have any weak spots from what I could see while in attendance. The Desert Hope staff was very professional, even though I transferred to the Florida site, they helped me every step of the way and ensured I could get the help I needed. If you are thinking about getting help for addiction, please seek out Desert Hope, you will not be sorry.
I think some of the strengths are that the staff is very empathetic and very knowledgeable about addiction and the nightly meetings are amazing. I think that the structure with some of the facilitators can use some work. I feel like Desert Hope has a great staff they are extremely welcoming and the facility is very comfortable.
The Groups you can open up and feel comfortable, my therapist Mo was very helpful. I think you need to just attend your classes and pay attention. Desert Hope is a great place you just need to be willing to accept the program.
I feel that the strengths are structure, efficiency, medical staff. I think that the therapists could spend a little more one on one time with clients. If you are looking for a place that understands you when you don't understand yourself Desert Hope is it!!!

Well staffed clean, comfortable, well maintained Some of the classes were mona-toned Read surveys before you look into any kind of inpatient facility it is good to get an idea before you come any where for 7 to 30 plus days. I detoxed before coming in and only know of my short experience.

Everything gets done in a timely matter. All the staff is on the same page as far as consistency. The staff are all around helpful all the way down to the housekeepers. Again the staff is very helpful especially the BHTs, they make you feel welcome from the moment you get here. I gotta say y'all are awesome!! When I 1st got to Desert Hope I hated everyone that worked there smh but after I realized that everyone genuinely cared for us & struggled the same way & still do struggle, I really got what it was all about. We all supported each other! BHTs supported us & us them & definitely clients supported clients. But even if BHTs didn't tell us I mean it's obvious that they get alot out of us clients too & we help them in their struggle for recovery.. 1 thing I didn't like was that the company got rid of alot of caseworkers & Therapists while I was there & us as clients really felt the effects of that! The ones that were left were totally overwhelmed by their caseload & that meant less focus on us clients. It was frustrating on all parties & wasn't fair for anyone..

The classes are great and very beneficial, the the response time and assistance that I received to come to Desert Hope. I am very happy with the treatment I received here at Desert Hope. It is the best thing that happened to me in my life Desert Hope has saved my life. It is more then I expected.
Food is bomb. Housekeeping is wonderful, the tools they give you to use on the outside world, positive energy and the facilitators. More calcium fortified food and real sugar I recieved a very warm welcome the staff are very thoughtful, respectful and have a happy vibe and it helped me have a happy and positive attitude.
Friendly and upbeat staff and the fact that they try to get to know each individual client that comes in and out of these doors. Security check on the high risk clients. Such as those who leave and come back trying to sneak drugs into the facility Desert Hope is a very accommodating place the staff is friendly and pay attention to your care during and after your stay.

I think that the staff that work here who are in recovery offer great advise and personal experience to the clients. Also the 12 step speaker meeting are really helpful. Do not use vending machine during evening meeting and the janitorial carts rolling down the hall during evening meeting are distracting. I think that they do a good job by matching roommates. When you come to Desert Hope just be open and hear, not just listen to what the staff and therapist have to say because it could be vital information.

The groups were definitely a plus and the staff is friendly. Wait time for case managers I didn't think I needed treatment but then after listening to other peoples stories, especially the BHTs it made see that I did need help and they guided me through it. I was unsure about the IOP program because of stories I heard, but now realize that in order to stay clean and sober in any environment you have to want to. I am a little nervous and you may be too when it comes time to move on to your next level of sobriety, but anything is possible if you really try.

The daily structure is a strong point. The classes are informative. I didn't have any problems I have had an interesting, I had a good experience because I came here to get sober. I have been able to meet people with the same mindset and want to stay sober.
Structure, Staff, timeliness. Weekend activities Overall my experience has been life saving and life changing. I have been able to save my family and work on myself to get what I need to stay sober. If you focus on the positive aspect of sobriety you will get it through this program,

The nurses attitude is great and they go out of their way to help those who are distressed. I know that the Crisis team helps out the community a lot. The BHTs are all understanding and compassionate. I never had a one on one with my therapist and I have been here for 2 weeks, she acted as if she knew me when in fact she knew very little. She was also very discouraging . I am grateful that I was able to come here, I was able to do a lot of self reflection. I feel much stronger then I did coming in here, I feel like I can stay sober using the tools I have learned here.
Clean and organized and the staff is friendly. Discharge procedure I would recommend Desert Hope to anyone, I live in Las Vegas and never thought I could come to rehab here and get sober.

Crisis prevention definitely got on the right track, the staff in general. The BHTs are great and helpful, the kitchen crew is awesome. nothing, I've had a great experience. I started out rough and unwilling to conform to the program and its simple rules. But after my little rough patch I was spoken to by the Crisis Team and they worked with me and helped me to see the error of my ways and encouraged me to engage in treatment and since then I have hit the ground running. The BHTs a very helpful, Desert Hope has a welcoming feel, I felt very safe. The couples aspect could be more hands on. I think it is well structured and the groups are extremely informative. I was a client in this facility recently, and I've got to say I couldn't have been more pleased with my time spent there. The staff was wonderful in helping me with my detox and just flat out making sure I got the best treatment I could have asked for. The facility is absolutely wonderful and the food was great - although we did eat chicken A LOT. The only complaint I have is that it was quite a wait in the end line. Besides that everything was great, I'm so happy to gained sobriety at this place!
Nursing dept. Housekeepers are not only do well at their job but they are also kind and courteous. I like that they have meetings and groups all day long, it is not like military style either. Everything here at Desert Hope is fantastic everybody are professional and kind. Some of the clients are disruptive, but everyone had their battles they are fighting. From the beginning the driver picked me up during my nursing assessment by RN until the end of my stay with Nikki the staff has made me feel welcome. They have not made me feel bad about the decisions I have made in life and like a person whom can be treated as an equal. You are not alone here at Desert Hope nor is it embarrassing. Don't be afraid to get help and tell your story. Everyone is so beyond helpful.
It is luxurious my love starts in the cafeteria and trickles down, all staff is very hospitable. This facility focuses on recovery and that is amazing. You would improve the spirituality by providing bibles. It helped me grow in all areas that I wanted to and didn't know I need to , it has helped me spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. I never thought I could come to Las Vegas Nevada of all places to get clean and sober, but I did.
The staff is more than accommodating. The nurses and BHTs are very well trained, they are able to handle any problems that come up and handle it quickly. All of the staff seem genuinely invested in each clients individual needs and subsequent success. I don't really have any complaints. This is the third treatment center I have been to and I can honestly say that it has been the most effective. Anyone who is thinking about staying clean and sober should give it a chance.

There is a lot of stuff to do with your free time, we were able to set up our own recovery meeting with the clients after the evening meeting. The food is good, nice and healthy. The access is good for people who exercise. Getting clients to group could be better but I do understand that you are always gonna have people duck out of stuff. I found Desert Hope very beneficial. I feel ready to move on to sober living.
The BHT Staff is incredible especially because most of them are in recovery themselves. One of the BHT's has a very in depth knowledge of recovery and can connect any issue or problem back to fixing them through the 12 steps. The facility curriculum is very important to us who want to recover. Maybe they could incorporate more peer led recovery meetings at night. My overall experience was great and I would recommend Desert Hope to anyone and already have.

Everyone is very nice, the nurses are real cool. I learned a lot of things I didn't learn before, the groups are not repetitive. The staff is amazing, they are very helpful and supportive. Maybe having a soda machine would be good. Desert Hope has very welcoming vibe as soon as you walk through the door. The receptionist at the front lobby are very polite. The groups are great I enjoy the classes a lot. The facility is very clean and maintained. Desert hope has amazing nurses. I am very thankful that I chose Desert Hope, I have been able to open my eyes to a new world I didn't know existed. I would recommend the EMDR and Bio Lounge to anyone who decides to come to Desert Hope.
The BHT Supervisor helped me to understand that the staff really does care, she took the time on several occasions to sit down and talk with me about my problems and how to find a healthy solution. The Crisis prevention team reached out to help me on multiple occasions, one guy in particular has been very helpful and attentive to my issues. Needs gluten free food options I feel great, but I am a little sad to leave main campus. But I do know the IOP is the next step in my process to happiness in recovery. All I can say is if you choose Desert Hope you may not like all of the rules but you will have a great time and learn a lot if you let yourself.
Well organized facility, the staff treats everyone with respect and encouragement regardless of their past.In order to be able to succeed you need to have an open mind, if you come in hating everything you will be provided with tools to help you change your thought process learn how to enjoy life again without drugs and alcohol.
Excellent staff, Great facilitators of groups..One BHT is also great with the clients. Maybe adding a Baseball diamond would be good. My experience has been very enlightening, at times I didn't like it but that is all part of the process of spiritual growth.
The classes are designed to give you what you need for recovery. There is strong recovery message delivered, I have learned a lot about myself through my whole process. I haven't seen any weaknesses. I have had a pleasant experience here at Desert Hope. My therapist and case managers have been exceptionally helpful, as well as the rest of the staff. I know that without a treatment plan I am doomed. Desert Hope staff has helped me get all of my paperwork figured out to insure that I a will succeed.
The Desert Hope facility has great groups and facilitators that have helped me through the process. The Crisis Prevention Team goes above and beyond to help clients who are struggling with family problems or court issues in order to focus on our recovery. I don't really know of any weaknesses. My room was cleaned on a daily basis, the food is great and the staff is kind and considerate. I would highly recommend Desert Hope to anyone who is battling any addiction or mental health issue.
Nursing and Behavioral Health Technicians are fantastic. No soda was a weakness. Helped me a lot and I am very familiar with this facility and I am 30 days clean and sober now.
Communication between clients and staff. The staff are very caring and considerate of each individual clients needs. Honestly I've not seen any weaknesses, beside my own, which I was able to work on those with the assistance from Desert Hope. My experience has been great, it did take me a few days(maybe a week) to adjust to the rules and structure provided at Desert Hope but in the end everything was all for a good reason, which has shown me I need a strong foundation to grow from.
The staff is definitely a strength they always offer words of wisdom,most of the staff go above and beyond for the clients. Anything that I needed the facility as whole assisted with no problem. I've had a great experience!
Physical activities are some of the things provided at Desert Hope. The staff are great and excellent. The thing I would like to express is that this is a GREAT program but it also has a lot to do with what you do when you leave. The things to remember are first; go to a meeting once you leave, go to 90 meetings in the first 90 days of leaving treatment, get a sponsor.
The BHTs are really caring especially BHT Faith. The staff have taken very good care of me since the first day I came to Desert Hope, they are always checking on the clients to see if they need anything and always willing to help out. It may be difficult for some if they get homesick easily. I felt as though I was well cared for during my stay at Desert Hope, the medical aspect of Desert Hope helped me so much that I did not suffer from a rough detox.
Therapist is very good. Not enough clocks in the building. Communicaton is fantastic there, and medication dispensation if accurately diagnosed
I like how all of the BHT dept. knows everyone by name, that makes everyone feel comfortable. Everything is very well structured, I am a punctual person and all the gropus and appointments start on time. The staff is well trained to help with all our needs. The staff are excellent, my therapist was able to help me uncover things I never knew i needed help with. The BHT are always there to help and motivate clients into group and where they need to go. One weakness is that chicken is served A LOT. I have been highly motivated by my experience at Desert Hope, this was my first time in treatment and all I can say is that if everyone comes to to DH and they do what they are suppose to they can do it. This has been a very beneficial experience. BHTs.. have really helped me during this process and I appreciate everything they have done for me.
BHTs and my therapist are were very helpful during my stay and the nursing staff is well trained and equiped to deal with my detox. During my at Desert Hope I have learned more about my co-occurring disorders as well as my addiction.
Everyone is caring the staff are real nice and helpful. Very clean facility. Phone time for clients can be a bit aggravating. They make you feel welcome from the get-go, as soon as they pick you from the airport the staff make you feel welcome. The staff is easy to talk to and help you through anything you are going through.
The nursing staff is very helpful. I feel that the BHT department goes above and beyond in their duties. If you have problems there are so many staff to speak with and help you through. The plus is that a majority of the BHTs are in recovery and can relate to what we are going through and do not look down on us but help lift our spirits as we receive the help we need while battling our alcoholism and /or addiction.
Very structured facility even though it is a coed facility the staff does a great job with the keeping up with the male/female separation. They staff here at Desert Hope are great especially the BHTs and Therapists. I really enjoyed the meetings in the evening where people from outside AA/NA meetings came to share their experience strength and hope. I really don't have any complaints. I like that Desert Hope has their own IOP to offer the clients. I think that the follow up after care that is provided is outstanding. If you really want to set yourself up for success you can do that here.
There are really good facilitators running the groups, the staff is considerate of the clients needs. Desert Hope has helped prepare me with the tools I need to stay clean. This program worked for me and if you want it to it will work for you too.
I really like that a majority of the staff are in recovery. The staff is very considerate of the clients well being. I was brought in by my Ex boyfriend and during his stay he did not comply with the rules at Desert Hope. During this time I was worried that I was going to kicked out and that was not the case. The BHT Supervisor and Operations Manager were able to take the time to help me get through treatment and focus on myself. I really do appreciate the time that the staff took to help me be strong enough to see that I can become clean and sober and a better mother to my children.
Desert hope has an Outstanding BHT Dept. they take the time to help clients with needs through out their treatment. One BHT that stands out in particular is Ryan. He really cares about the clients and it shows through his performance as a BHT. Everything is great because I want to be here and I want to stay clean. I feel that Desert Hope staff are very helpful to the clients especially when it comes to talking about staying clean and sober as some are clean and sober. The meetings that are provided to clients in the evening are very beneficial to the us as well.
Personal care plan, very consistent, the level of care that was provided to help me with my recovery process was phenomenal. I believe that in this short period of time Desert Hope has done me wonders. Communication between the call center and what is really provided can use some work. Not that it really matters when you're here to work on yourself, but it may trouble some. I came in feeling hopeless, just deteriorated and by having this program the BHTs and nursing staff has helped me to become in tuned with myself spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. I feel I have a greater purpose in life.
Staff are knowledgeable and considerate to the clients needs. The groups are very helpful in learning to stay sober, coping mechanisms and building healthy boundaries and learning to love ourselves. The kitchen staff is always ready and willing to accommodate special diets. Pager system to see the doctor is annoying. The comfy couch room could use wipe down furniture. Updated phones in client phone area. I had a very good experience here at Desert Hope. I feel stronger then I ever have and much more confident in my recovery.
The staff is never patronizing or condescending when dealing with clients, I have been to facilities that are and the experience was horrible. Here at Desert Hope the staff is very considerate of the clients. The art room can use some more supplies. More activities on the weekend. I've had a good experience, the staff is really nice to me. I feel that I have learned tools here at Desert Hope to help me maintain sobriety.
The staff is unbelievably helpful. The food is great, my detox was addressed very well. The facility is exceptionally well maintained. I have learned that if I keep on using the result is always the same. I am lucky I ended up in rehab this time around to help me figure that out.
Staff including the BHT and Therapist, I've had a really good experience with my psychiatrist. The facility is very clean with the housekeeping services. No matter what the main course is you can always find something to eat. The gym equipment needs to be repaired. Art room needs more supplies, seems as thought they ran low. Recovery is for those who want it, if you really want it Desert Hope is the place to go.
Everything is really good, nursing, BHT staff, and therapist. Participation is all you need because Desert Hope provides the rest.
The BHT and intake are outstanding and considerate of each clients needs and listen very well. The staff all around take care of each of the clients needs. Instructor are very knowledgeable and apply their personal experience in order to gain the confidence of the clients. As a whole the facility has a good foundation to learn from. I think the food could use a little more variety to accommodate different types of people and what they are accustom to. You will find that some clients may not want to participate in their own recovery which can be distracting to some. Overall the staff all listen and provide appropriate feedback for the clients to ensure that they are getting the most out of the facility.

Great staff, they are considerate and knowledgeable. There are doctors on site and the r.n.s are on site 24/7. Great groups and classes. Detox meds. are available with Dr. Recommendation to make detoxing safe and less painful. Both intake and discharge is organized and efficient. Food is nutritional and prepared by professional cooks/chefs, an after care/treatment plan is prepared to ensure a painless and successful transition back into society. The rooms are clean and very comfortable and secure/safe as well. At times it seemed as though they were understaffed, I didn't get a whole lot of 1 on 1 time with my case worker or therapist but I believe this has since changed. My experience here was great. The staff made me feel safe and there was always someone there if I needed anything. I enjoyed the various groups that they had there and I loved being able to discuss my addictions(s) openly with my peers and counselors. I met a lot of great people whom I became great friends with and still keep in touch with today. I have been to several rehab facility's but this one was by far the best. They truly care there and the staff still fallows up with me to ensure that I'm still doing well which I am. I was able to not only address my addictions but more importantly the underlying issues which led to my addictions. I would recommend this facility to both friends and/or family in need of help. I really appreciate Desert Hope of Las Vegas.

Managers at the facility AMA and crissis team are very good at keeping clients the movement piece for clients going from main to IOP is organized. program schedule is effective daily operations is organized and efficient the teamwork between BHT and nursing staff is really awesome I can not think of any weaknesses because the way we tackle situations result in a good outcome. I have wokred at DH for four years this april and I still feel the same as I did on day 1. I look forward to coming into work each day knowing my management team, nursing team and the therapist team will do whatever it takes to help the clients and staff. As an employee I feel that Desert Hope has a great emphasis on the 12 step aspect of recovery. As an employee I also feel that the administration team goes above and beyond to keep clients engaged in their treatment and involves the family to help assist in long term sobriety after they leave the facility. Clean, amazing staff, incredible classes, decent food, all around I'd give it a 5 star rating Too much free time for clients on the weekends. IOP needs to offer more outings. Yes we are there for recovery, but we also need to learn and know we can do different activities without using. Desert Hope offers an absolutely amazing and incredible residential as well as IOP for those seeking recovery. The staff is absolutely amazing, well trained, no judgement, and super understanding. I could not have asked for a better facility to help me get clean and gain recovery. And best of all, the Alumni Coordinator of Desert Hope is absolutely incredible. He is consistent with checking in and making sure you are doing ok. He is almost always ready and available to help you in any way he can. I definitely give Desert Hope and it's staff a 5/5 rating. In my opinion, there couldn't be a better place to gain recovery.

The BHT's are by far the strengths of the facility The Manager ...I feel like my hole process group was spent talking about him because he will contact people from home that he wasn't allowed to which will cause stress ans distraction from the bigger goal which is getting sober and working on yourself. My experience was amazing, it's whatever you put in and what effort you give. Clean and most of the staff was friendly and approachable. The nurses were fabulous. A downfall was that the groups are repetitive and the therapists were not very helpful, i felt like my issues were not addressed in therapy. Very disorganized in groups and no massage which i was told id get. During inpatient in every group people wasted time talking about iop. There should be an orientation or class for info about iop. The groups were poorly managed so it was tough to learn anything. I have allergies and could not eat a lot of the food i lost ten pounds in there. At iop the groups were very disruptive and the people were not told to stop. The therapist at iop was very unhelpful and passive he did nothing for me i was very unhappy with the therapy. I did community so i lived at home during iop so i have nothing to say about the housing.

Nursing staff , BHT's and mental health professionals were extremely well trained and very courteous. Attention to detail when cleaning was superb, but furniture needs to be cleaned or replaced. The BHT take their jobs seriously and have structure when dealing with clients. Compared to River Oaks I find that the BHTs here at Desert Hope are more organized and independent. More training for the group facilitators. Overall the facility is a wonderful rehab that has given me the tools to move forward in my recovery. The staff is very professional. I would recommend this facility to my loved ones. The dietary needs sre being met.

Hand down, this facility has the best STAFF, PROGRAM and STRUCTURED Environment for you Mental Health and Substance Abuse Challenges. I suffered from a horrible addition to alcohol addition that almost cost me everything!!! And I mean everything. I you want it, Desert Hope provides a great environment to sobriety and a better way to live... This is from a recovering user. They educated me that you don\'t have to use again.. It did not mean Alcohol or other Substances.. I met and formed a lot of great relationships with other addicts while I was at Desert Hope. The facility took the time to help us all to understand our additions and make us feel welcomed as a family of support. I don\'t personally care about what my insurance paid for the treatment, I cared about the help I was given.. Desert Hope delivered for me. I am doing great these days because of this great people and the care the have for their clients. From the Nurses... I am sorry if I can remember all the staff, but they were exceptional!!!! The rooms were great!! The BHT\'s really care about the Clients. (Awesome BHT and Infrastructure!!!) (Awesome BHT), (Amazing Person and Cares!!, (Great People!! And Very Dedicated) !!! Also one of the best BHT\'s and Teachers/Instructors. (In My Opinion Best On Delivery and I work for a Fortune 500 Company!!) I also have to give accolades to other Super important staff in my recovery... I could not have made it if not for this CRITICAL PEOPLE!!! The staff here is wonderful, My case manager was one of the most intelligent women I\'ve ever had the pleasure to talk to, the rest of the staff is fantastic, my therapist helped me deal with some very difficult issues in my life. Desert Hope provided a beautiful, positive experience for me. The first 3 weeks went well; until such time they drove me 30-40 minutes to a shady area of town. I was scared to death. I had no idea what I was getting into. They are calling it IOP, but the housing accommodations for the women participating in IOP are not safe. It is a shame that a positive experience ended on such a bad note for me.

You get out what you put in. If you are willing to work, you can get it done at Desert Hope. They will help you with detox medication, but then it was up to me and I am still doing well a year later.
My therapist was great and helped me in ways I did not expect. My case manager took care of my FMLA and short term disability so I could focus on my recovery. It is a lovely place with a staff who care. They fought for me as hard as I fought for my life. It is the best decision I ever made.

Like others have mentioned, treatment is exactly what YOU make of it. As I read these other reviews I try to figure out why they are so upset. YOU have to want this. This is for YOU... I went, I was treated with respect and I took what I wanted from the tools provided to me. There are a lot of meetings and therapy, but that is why I went. This was not to be pampered or have some miracle therapist tell me \"You are cured\". Sobriety will be a constant struggle. I did not picture this perfect 30 day program. I knew there were going to be hurdles (emotionally). I knew that this had to be for ME. I couldn\'t go and nit pick and complain to my family if I wasn\'t putting in my ALL. This is a great program. It will be hard, nothing is easy, especially when it comes to your addiction. Be strong, love yourself and do this for YOU!

I attended desert hope about a year ago I wanted to take time before I made a comment. This place was really sad. I had a very challenging case manager that didn\'t do her job. And a therapist I don\'t want to say cuz I don\'t want to lose their job. The place was Immaculate they kept it very clean. There were some days that were very challenging. I think these people forgot that they were getting paid by the people there who were there for help. Would I ever go to this place again if I Iwould go back?No!!!...It\'s too large of a place to do what they want done it is a money-making place they will take your money. But in it all I was straight for 30 days. I found my freedom through Jesus Christ. I left there was very little tools. I believe some of the staff were there to help but I believe most of the people were there because they needed a job to pay for their expensive homes or their Lifestyles if they wanted. That job just isn\'t for anybody it\'s for very caring people to help out those in need. Today I live a drug-free life a lot less stressful. If you have a problem you probably be better off going somewhere else.
This was a joke. No effort to treat underlying causes. Therapist spend most of their time trying to get patients the phone calls they need to make for more money or supplies. It\'s terrifying how they call family members when their loved one has had a seizure and they are taking them to the hospital and you have to keep calling back until you reach someone who knows how they are doing. They claim to be equipped for all medical issues re withdrawal but instead take patients to nearby hospitals that don\'t take your insurance. Bills in The thousands of dollars range. They lied about 8 times about getting the hospital to work with you on charges. We must have faxed to them and hospitals more than that, talked to social workers at hospitals and still getting notices that no one , including us, has contacted them. Something is going on here. A big joke. You\'d do better going to a hospital for medical detox then toughing it out on your own. Complete FAILURE

My brother has been at desert hope for just short of three weeks. He is at residential level of care. We have not had a family session. His therapist says they only provide family sessions to families that live in the state. Meanwhile, the contract that Desert Hope has with BCBS mandates weekly family therapy. My brother reports he has received only one individual session since admission. He has otherwise only had contact with his therapist in group settings. Since my brother has become disgruntled with the facility not meeting bare therapeutic standards, he has requested to step down elsewhere. He reports he was put off for days to see his case manager, then put off for several days more to be given access to a computer to research a different facility for step down. I\'m not sure if they\'re assisting him step down planning. From what I can tell, they try to keep everyone in house through all levels of care, regardless of where they are from (not the best when thinking about reintegrating into your community!) When I spoke to his therapist she was not able to say what the clinical criteria for step down are for someone in their residential treatment. I have an ROI, she was legally able to speak to this, she just did not have a response. She was not able to provide a clinical recommendation for level of care. The only reason she would give for step down is \"insurance refuses to pay for this level of care.\" I understand that insurance rarely pays for as much treatment as is needed by an individual--I actually work in these levels of care at a mental health facility myself. At the same time, a therapist should always be able to identify the progress needed for an individual to be ready for the next level of care. From what I can tell, this is an UNETHICAL PROFIT DRIVEN COMPANY with incompetent clinical staff that is not meeting their legal obligation to patients.

DO NOT GO TO DESERT HOPE!!!! This place is run exactly like a prison. You will be given the run around. The classes are a joke and run by the BHT\'s and not by therapists or clinicians. You get to use the phone for 10 minutes a day and you have to fight for spots with other people on a sign up sheet with limited spots. The employees forget it\'s the clients insurance that pay their salaries and they talk to the clients so bad and treat them rudely. I just got out yesterday and my stress level is still high.PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!!!
Rehab is what you make of it! If you go to the classes, respect the staff and remember where you were days before, you\'ll realize how much of an opportunity they give you to turn your life around. I didn\'t realize how much I had learned until later when I was craving and used the tools I learned but didn\'t really understand at the time how powerful and simple they were. Don\'t listen to the \"haters\" who are upset that there is no pool, no private room, separation of sexes, etc. The hardest thing for me was going unplugged for a month. The best thing is the network of people I met that are now friends I can call whenever I need to. It truly is a place where they give you all the tools necessary to get back to the life you once had. I wish I had gone years before.
The curriculum is awful. Very poor therapeutic care. In 31 days I had less than one hour of one on one therapy with my therapist. I was not seen by the psychiatrist or a doctor for a week after driving. Group sessions are run by \"behavioral Health Technicians\" who are mostly recovered addicts who have no education what so ever in treatment, therapy, or social work.
Some staff is kind Very unorganized Treated poorly. Not listened to. Needs not addressed in timely manner
The facility, music therapy, groups taught by therapists, organization, amount of time with therapist, groups were all things that were good. A lot of unorganization. A lot of groups just reading from a book, not very helpful
The process groups are excellent. I have learned a lot. Some of the groups at the main campus need to be more informative. There are some that are excellent while others need work.
There is always someone around to help you with whatever you need. There is a lack of communication between staff members. Desert hope changed my life, it did everything to give the tools and knowledge for when I got home, and they work.
Staying clean an figuring out my mental issues that have always kept me using was absolutely amazing Some of the staff weren't great. It helped my life so much completely saved me.
Getting to deeper issues as well treating the addiction They helped me realize why I was using in turn to work on those issues as well as the symptom of addiction.
Staff are very nice and make you feel welcome. The food was amazing but chicken 3 times a week every week gets old I was a herion addict that has been in and out of treatment. The message finally clicked while i was in dessert hope. The staff at dessert hope helped me overcome this horrible disease. I am forever grateful for american addiction center!
Inpatient- great staff, clean, nice variety in activities. Counselers were exceptional! case managers overworked. No time to plan discharge. Amazing facility, great staff on the inpatient side, but be proactive with your discharge from day 1 of your arrival.

Staff listens and does its absolute best to help clients in different situations For extended time staying patients the groups repeat information. This facility helped me immensely my therapist was able to constantly have one on one meetings. BHTs were also very kind and respectful towards clients. This experience was very healthly and vital to my recovery.

I was very impressed that a lot of the staff were in recovery, so they could relate to what we were going thru. I felt I could talk to any of the staff if I was having problems/issues. Wonderful group of workers. The friends I met there, will be part of my life forever. They are all like family, great supporters and very caring. There was some disorganization, due to the merger of two rehab facilities while I was there. They are working thru the issues, so the disorganization should only be short term issue. The program was very structured, which was great. The food was really good. There were no massages, acupuncture &/or pool at this facility. However, there was yoga, gym, ping pong, volleyball & kickball areas.
The staff and how caring they are in every aspect of your stay there None This is the kind of rehab you go to if you have been to treatment multiple times and are sick and tired of this shit. This facility will instill a will power in you to want to stay sober and show you how to do it in ways other treatment centers can't. They make sobriety look cool and appealing and the fact that the staff cares so much about you there makes you feel and gives you the confidence to believe that you can stay sober this time. I went into this facility mentally broken, and with a prisoners attitude. Today I have almost 10 months sober and I work at a treatment center helping others and spreading the message like Desert Hope did with me.

You should never send your loved one to this facility. I currently have someone close to me in this rehab and it\'s horrible. They have been there for 3 weeks and still haven\'t met with a counselor to discuss his personal problems. He sits in class for hours on end. They only get two 10 minute phone calls a day. I have called and the staff is very rude and laughs at you over the phone. The only positive thing I\'ve heard is that the food is ok. They tell you whatever you want to hear before deciding to go because they want to milk your insurance and make more money. It\'s sad. He has 1 more week to go and I believe this was a horrible decision. I can only hope that the classes taught him something.
This place is for the birds. It\'s just a business no real care for the clients. The Director of nurses shouldn\'t even be in that position because she has to ask her assistant about everything. The department heads like to sweep so many things under the rug. There is alwaysca lack of staff especially at night. So if you want your loved one to be safe and be provided real treatment to rehab. DO NOT SEND THEM HERE!!
My experience is strictly on the female side. All the females (after detox) have classes/groups in the same room all day, Monday through Saturday, that\'s 5+ hours in the same room. Talk about going stir-crazy. Rarely are the women allowed outside for a group while the men are constantly outside playing games. There is crazy amounts of drama and fights, going on with the 40+ women. Residential might be a co-ed facility, but the staff will jump down your throat if you\'re even too close to the opposite gender. Most of the staff are very cool and kind, although all the girls agree that the one male staff member, the man who is power-hungry, is creepy. The classes and treatment themselves are helpful, but can be summarized as \"one thousand different ways to go to Alcoholics Anonymous\". The food served is mostly chicken, different types of chicken for everyday of the week, but you can request special meals, and the kitchen staff is very accommodating. Overall, it was effective in the way that I will NEVER go to rehab again. Most of the things advertised are false, such as from their front page there is NO Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), NO spa amenities of any type, and NOT a luxurious setting. Be warned that they will say whatever it takes over the phone to get you to fly over there.
The above was strictly for residential in-patient at the compound. PHP and IOP reside in an old run-down hotel in downtown Las Vegas known as Recovery Village, but the nickname given to it by the clients was \"Relapse Village\", for good reason. The IOP facility is joke, you had classes from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM, then you wait for a ride that comes around 1:30 PM. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday that takes you to solutions campus were you wait around until the AA meeting at 3:30 PM. On Tuesday and Thursday you go to an NA meeting at 2:30 PM then go home. They required the clients to be outside of the facility for a certain amount of hours so you spend that time doing absolutely nothing, but waiting and smoking cigarettes. Save your money and go else where.
Listening to clients needs but unorganized. I feel that the med line should be done differently. Sometimes it would take 2 hours to get medications

This facility is absolutely amazing! The staff are very professional and helped me so much. They have so much to offer at Desert Hope. The quality of groups, food, rooms, staff, activities are simply beyond 5 stars. Desert Hope saved my life. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I was okay and well taken cared of at all time. The facility it self is beautiful. The nurses and BHTs go out of their way each every day to make sure the patients are okay. Plenty of activites and groups to keep you busy. Even the outings are quite fascinating. If your looking for a place to start your recovery, Desert Hope is definitely the place to go.
The staff at Desert Hope was compassionate. I felt like I was in a place where it was safe to finally deal with unresolved issues and start my walk in recovery. Everyone genuinely cared. If you were willing to work, they'd match the effort you put in. A lot of the staff were in recovery themselves. There's nothing quite like being in a facility where the staff actually understand what you're going through. They met me where I was at and without them I wouldn't be where I am today. The facility was understaffed. I spent 60 days at DH and am beyond grateful. When I first walked through the doors I didn't know if I could do it. I didn't know if I could get behind the thought that there was a way to do life without using or drinking. I met so many amazing people. These people made all the difference in my time in treatment. I was able to get honest and be me. That's not something I've ever had before. If I was struggling there would be many people again, staff and clients, who would check in. The staff took time out of their very busy days to sit with me and work through something. I was always encouraged and motivated. I wouldn't still be alive if it wasn't for Desert Hope. I've recommended this facility to so many people. I loved getting to go back for the alumni event. I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to do treatment in such a fantastic facility.

Staff is well-trained, facility is gorgeous, like a resort, nurses are sweet and understanding but not a lot of extracurricular activities. This facility was the first of 4 past treatment centers that finally got me to turn my life around. I'm not sure exactly what it was; between the programming and the staff, it just made me want to better my life!!

Great staff, people who actually care about you and wish for your well being. great Yoga program. Great outdoor extra curriculars and really appreciated the trips taken to outdoor events/ activities only a few days where the classes and/or teaching seemed lack luster and disorganized.IE repeat subject days; maybe 2 or 3 days out of the 40 day stay I participated in. This rehab facility saved my life. I don't regret it for a single passing second of my life. everything I learned there I still use today in my everyday life, and some of the things they introduced me to are things I participate in, in my recovery outside of rehab (like AA, and meetings, service work).
Everyone that works there seems like they have pretty large meats. The gym should be bigger and have a greater variety of stuff. Desert Hope is good, if you are truly serious about getting sober it's definitely a solid place to give it a shot

Therapy, groups, and all around everything really. The facility is great the people are great and the treatment you receive there is to0 notched, I recommend anyone to go bc it's definitely worth it

They are a leader in rehab facilities. I actually feel like the staff is family. They will do anything to help someone within reason, I try to work with you when possible. If they cannot get the exact resolution you are looking for, they will help with great options. Honestly, there is not a gym facility on property at "recover village" it was great to have this at their main faculty where you did detox. Many of the staff members have been through addiction as well, their level of understanding make a huge difference when going through the first 90 days. Overall, I fell blessed to have found Desert Hope.
Meals and nurses were good. A lot of the people working there don't understand addiction. I'm still SOBER because of this place, but 95% if the people relapse because of the new hotel
Nice facility, very clean, some really good group leaders. Food, there most definitely is not a five star chef here. It's not that the food isn't edible, but it's not of 5 star chef quality. Some staff, group leaders etc. had an attitude problem or made derogatory comments to addicts. If you don't like your job, find another. You aren't doing me a favor by treating me, it is a privilege! Very nice facility overall. very compassionate and helpful which makes up for those who weren't.
Group meetings were a strength. Allowance of visitations was a weakness. Horrible lack of communication between higher ups and clients, lack of nutritious food at RV, bad neighborhood at RV

Strengths: Therapists, Quality of residential facility, Yoga, AA meetings, Support from staff Rigorous curriculum. Weaknesses: Communication btw IOP and residential, The IOP village should have been completely set up prior to sending clients over, Food at recovery village lacked vegetables Programming at recovery village is misleading. If you have United healthcare MOST likely they will move you in the middle of your stay to the recovery village.
The staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs. Due to previous trouble makers the ability to just relax after the days groups has been significantly decreased. It's hard to find a quiet place to get away for a bit. Overall Desert Hope is a fine facility. The staff provided exemplary care and were attentive to my every need. The diverse curriculum kept me busy and the food is awesome. However I am pretty sure that I have now had every variation of chicken and pork. I received knowledge of my addiction and tools to prevent me from ever having to use again. Thank you AAC Desert Hope.

Great Counciling great meals. Some of BHT'S are not good for people.. They do it for a check not to help people. I think that 2 years SOBER is too long for people to have to wait to work there after they go through,when there are workers there that are SOBER and shouldn't have jobs there
The food is amazing. The rooms are beautiful, and always kept clean. Support staff was very caring, and always there when you needed assistance. The line for nightly meds was disorganized, and many pm nurses were very rude to patients when it came to passing out meds, and having people waiting. Staff was very kind, empathetic, and helpful when it came to helping me through my rehabilitation. The food was very delicious, and amazing. This place saved my life. I had been to many treatment facilities in San Antonio, TX, and found them pretty horrible. Traveling to Las Vegas to Desert Hope, was the most life-altering, and life-changing experience I could EVER have. This placed saved my life!

I was there for 2 stints at Desert Hope within a 6 month period. In order to be successful, you must go in with the right attitude. If not you will hate it!
I was there 16 months ago. I a still sober and loving my new life. Yes the place on goods and bads but I did it.... Alot of good employees. For the money it does need more trained staff for one on one help. I am very grateful for my time there. I will never go back because, I think too much on myself to go out again. The best thing I remember is if you set in the back of the rooms, it was called relapse row. I NEVER sit in the back of an AA meeting. Also don\'t forget its what in put into the program you get out of it.... Thanks for my new life.....
Desert Hope saved my life. I spent 60 days at the facility and it changed my life. I walk through the doors sckepticle and hopeless and walked out full of hope and motivated. It\'s a beautiful facility, the program is stellar, but for me, it was the staff and they\'re passion for what they do that made all the difference in my treatment. I had an incredible experience at Desert Hope and and so blessed to have been able to be a part of such a great facility. I\'d recommend Desert Hope to anyone seeking treatment. The staff works just as hard has you do to obtain a better life. Like I said, Desert Hope saved my life. I\'m forever grateful.
The facility has a very well trained therapy staff. With my therapists, and the facilities treatment staff and program I can say are very strong strengths. Also the facility is very nice, and staff are very friendly. The facility's only weakness would be the lack of planning. This is only mainly on the Iop part of the program. It is effective, but there is a lot of spare time that could either be utilized or eliminated all together. All in all this facility gets 5 stars with me. Granted i know it is all in the clients perception, but with the program and therapists i had. I will stand behind the program. I am still continuing my recovery after graduating desert hopes program, and i can thank them for that and my sobriety today.
Dedicated to helping the patient in all areas not just the addiction. Distance makes it hard to be involved. Wish there were more locations. The process of admission was fast once we were in contact. The staff has been amazing at keeping the family updated and have taken excellent care of my loved one.

Strengths: The H&I meetings are very helpful and I liked the fact that most all BHTS were people in recovery. Weaknesses: Orientation/admissions process needs more attention with showing the patients the facility and explaining the programming. Needs more organized activity on the weekends. I was ready and willing to listen and change my life. Desert Hope taught me many dynamics of the disease of addiction , and they are a very good facility for treatment. I am so grateful for the program they have there. It saved my life.

Strenghts: Aftercare Plan Staff. Weaknesses: Holistic Wellness (Yoga, etc). I honestly couldn't have asked for a better facility. They made the initial detox as comfortable as possible, and afterward, transitioned me smoothly into the groups and classes I needed to build a strong foundation for my early recovery. The aftercare and IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) plans they have in place are great as well. The tools and knowledge I gained from this facility have helped tremendously in my continued sobriety. The Alumni program also continues to help me out to this day, so they're really invested in helping your sobriety for the long haul.

My daughter just returned from 30-day stay at Desert Hope and has had two relapses. She said the group sessions were led by unskilled leaders and the once-per-week one-on-sessions were good but not nearly enough. There is no help for dual-diagnosis patients, even though the recruiters claim otherwise. The constant movement of patients between inpatient services and the sober-living houses is chatoic and distracting. The facility was disorganized in many ways, but particularly inefficient in processing mail (an overnight box I mailed did not get received by her for a week but was in the mailroom there), and the facility lost an expensive bag of supplements when she checked in, which they were unable to ever find. Be wary of outside agents who recommend facilities - they promise quality services . We have received no follow-up contact Desert Hope, so they are unable to evaluate the ineffectiveness of their services. This was our first attempt at residential rehabilitation for alcoholism. My daughter entered Desert Hope with a high commitment to win the battle with the desease and did not need to be detoxed when she entered the faciltiy. However, she did not acquire the tools to be successful. I realize that relapses are not uncommon after the first rehab stint, but I would not recomment Desert Hope to others, based on my daughter\'s experience there.
I was here in April which was like five months ago and I am still sober. This was an amazing place that helped me get my life back. The sober living program was great. I would recommend this place to anyone trying to get clean!!!!
The staff was very knowledgable, both with addiction and mental illness. I loved the hike. However, there was not enough equipment for exercise and not enough extracurricular activities.
They helped my family member to get sober and stay sober; t's almost six months later and he's still sober.
I was not fond of some of their rules. However, overall it was a great place that focused on the well being of the patients most of all.
