TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office's website, all prospective clients undergo an initial, 90-minute evaluation to determine an appropriate level of care. Clients who need stabilization and treatment are recommended to DACCO’s gender-specific residential program.
Outpatient options such as day treatment programs and an IOP track are available. DACCO also runs specialty programs for mothers of young children, pregnant women, and those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
Treatment programs combine the principles of the 12 steps with evidence-based practices and education.
Clients typically stay in treatment between three to eight months. Programming includes individual counseling, group sessions, and random drug screenings.
Following initial stabilization and intensive programming, residents participate in vocational training, GED prep, and other specialized services.
When appropriate, DACCO provides medication-assisted therapy (like methadone and Suboxone), and addresses psychiatric troubles through its on-site mental health clinic. DACCO also holds family group sessions and visitation hours on a weekly basis. Aftercare programming includes referral to DACCO’s alumni association as well as ongoing group therapy sessions.
DACCO's website notes the treatment team includes a medical director, board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners, case managers, along with licensed mental health counselors and certified addiction professionals. The treatment center is one of the 241 (36.1 percent) of Florida treatment facilities that is CARF accredited.
