ABOUT EASTERN SHORE PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES
Eastern Shore Psychological Services (ESPS) is a regional, community-based mental health treatment provider that offers outpatient-based services to children, adolescents, and adults with psychiatric disorders. The organization’s center in Salisbury, Md., in the state’s Eastern Shore region, treats individuals struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.
The organization also operates facilities in the nearby communities of Easton and Princess Anne. The Salisbury center does not provide detoxification services onsite. Within the state, ESPS is among 52.5 percent of private, for-profit substance abuse treatment facilities.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
To provide individualized treatment for clients, clinicians perform an initial psychiatric assessment and, if needed, a substance abuse evaluation. According to ESPS’s website, the biopsychosocial evaluation and a comprehensive report help to identify “strengths, challenges, and recommendations.”
To address psychiatric conditions, ESPS facilitates one-on-one, group, and family counseling sessions. Treatment is individualized, multidisciplinary, and follows evidence-based practices. Along with counseling sessions, the center provides ongoing psychiatric evaluations and medication management. The facility also offers case management to coordinate community support, services, and resources for clientele.
ESPS conducts a specialized program for DUI offenders that meets Maryland’s requirements for potential driver license reinstatement. The 12-hour program consists of six weekly two-hour classes and is given at the Salisbury site on Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m. If an initial DUI assessment determines that the individual is dependent on alcohol, a 26-week treatment program may be recommended. Within Maryland, ESPS is among 44.4 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities with special programs for DUI/DWI clients.
ESPS has received accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities – CARF and, as such, is among 32.6 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities in the state of Maryland with that designation. The center employs a multidisciplinary team that comprises physicians, psychiatrists, licensed social workers, and licensed professional counselors (LPCs).
