ABOUT ENDEAVOR HEALTH SERVICES- BUFFALO

Officially incorporated in 1972 as a not-for-profit, Endeavor Health Services (formerly known as Mid-Erie Counseling & Treatment Services) in Buffalo, New York is a suburban clinic on Walden Avenue that offers chemical dependency services for adults and adolescents. Housed in a single-floor facility with patches of woods surrounding it, Endeavor offers residential care, intensive outpatient (IOP) services, and aftercare treatment. The facility also has a special program for clients with co-occurring disorders, a modality offered by 61 percent of all substance abuse treatment facilities in the state. Endeavor Health Services has additional locations in Rochester, Cheektowaga, and Bowmansville.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment at Endeavor Health is evidence-based and utilizes therapeutic modalities such as motivational interviewing (MI) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Adult clients can receive residential or outpatient treatment services consisting of individual, group, and family counseling; chemical dependency education; aftercare services; and medical evaluation. The IOP allows clients to continue with work or school, and meets three days a week for three hours each session.

Adolescents also receive evidence-based treatment, in addition to evaluations that help staff learn about the individual's history of substance abuse, physical health, risk behaviors, etc. They participate in a 12-week outpatient treatment program with individual and group counseling sessions. Groups start after 5:00 p.m. to accommodate school or work.

Satisfied former clients described Endeavor Health as a well-run treatment facility with knowledgeable, caring staff, and organized services, despite its large size. In a review representative of positive feedback, Liz wrote: "The health care professionals are dedicated to the patients and are genuinely friendly. Given the large volume of patients they provide service for, they do a good job of accommodating patients’ scheduling needs. I was very impressed with how caring the staff is."

Unhappy alumni complained about long wait times for appointments, incorrect diagnoses, and rude staff. "This system is not serving clients, set up against clients but the goal should be to accommodate and work with clients who are rebuilding their lives," an anonymous reviewer wrote in a comment representative of negative feedback.
