To provide excellence in outpatient substance use treatment using strong clinical, psychiatric and family support services. We accomplish this by engaging clients in a compassionate recovery community that helps them Excel in Life. Our purpose is not to keep you as a client indefinitely. We want to provide you and your family with the tools you need to stay sober, based on your unique needs and those of your family. Treatment must be collaborative for it to be effective. At Excel, the client is a partner in treatment every step of the way. Clients work hand in hand with our multi-disciplinary team to develop a treatment plan that will work best for them.

Specializations

Individualized Treatment

Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.

Dual Diagnosis/ Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

These two terms describe a person who is not only addicted to drugs or alcohol, but also has a mental or emotional illness, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. Facilities that treat patients with dual-diagnosis or co-occurring disorders provide psychiatric treatment in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.

Gershon Weiss

Clinical Director LPC, LCADC

Gershon has been managing substance use disorder treatment programs for over 25 years. Gershon has provided clinical leadership in residential, outpatient and prevention programs. He directed a residential mother/child program for 7 years as well as an IOP for substance use disorders in an outpatient psychiatric setting for 7 years. Clients are viewed as individuals with their own strengths who may need to negotiate developmental challenges or social skill deficits in order to meet their own goals for a satisfying life. Gershon believes in being personally available to patients and their approved collaterals.

ABOUT EXCEL TREATMENT CENTER

Excel Treatment Center is a private treatment facility in northern New Jersey that offers intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and medication assisted treatment (MAT) services for young adults and those who considers themselves “midlife.”

One of just 225 (65.4 percent) of IOPs in the state, Excel’s is run by a team of individuals trained extensively in substance abuse, social work, and counseling. The outpatient facility is also one of just 66 (19.2 percent) facilities statewide accredited with the Joint Commission and has its own coffee house.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Excel Treatment Center treats all major substances and recognizes and works with major mental illnesses such as depression, body image and bipolar disorders, mood and anger management, codependency, sex addiction, PTSD, anxiety, and gambling addiction. When clients arrive, they’ll start with an initial diagnostic assessment that considers their medical and health status, family and work relationships, and personal goals for treatment and beyond.

Some clients may necessitate short-term individual counseling. Others may be recommended for an intensive outpatient (IOP) setting - small size groups and individual counseling for weeks or months. A separate relapse prevention program aims to tackle fresh challenges, “before they turn into old problems.” For others, treatment may last just a few appointments. Clients in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) may expect six to eight sessions, those in solution-focused therapy have four to five, while participants of IOP meet for between six and 10 weeks.

Clients interested can access 12-step meetings, as needed. Other services include evaluations, drug screenings, second opinion evaluations for DUI and DWI, and medication management.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Excel programs are collaboratively run by licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs), professional counselors (LPCs), drug and alcohol counselors, board-certified advance practice nurses (APNs), and an art therapist whose goal it is to help clients express themselves in non-threatening, creative ways.

REVIEWS

Reviews available on Rehabs.com as well as those on Facebook rave over the center; collectively, all five individuals left five-star reviews while two described the program staff as “caring” and “friendly.”[1] “I would absolutely recommend this treatment center to anyone!” wrote grateful alum Becca in a fairly representative statement. “I don’t know where I would be without them,” she told Rehabs.com.

FINANCING

Excel Treatment Center offers set self-pay rates for those not filing insurance. An initial assessment costs $150, a psychiatric evaluation $250. One hour of counseling costs $65 while participation in the IOP for adults comes to $100 per “contact-day.”

Excel is one of just 222 (64.5 percent) of programs that accepts insurance statewide.
