ABOUT FAMILY RECOVERY CENTER -- LISBON, OH
Dedicated to “Making Recovery a Reality,” Family Recovery Center, located in Lisbon, Ohio, offers a range of outpatient treatment options for children, adolescents, and adults struggling with substance abuse and/or mental health concerns. Along with three recovery homes for men, the organization also operates the Fleming House in Lisbon, Ohio, which is designed for homeless, recovering women with children. TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Family Recovery Center takes a holistic approach to treatment, addressing the physical, psychological, interpersonal, spiritual, and financial effects of substance abuse or mental illness on the individual and their loved ones. As such, the rehab treats clients who are struggling with co-occurring disorders, which places it among 47.9 percent in the state with programs for clients with co-occurring disorders.
The process for outpatient treatment begins with a phone screen to schedule a first appointment. During the initial visit, a licensed counselor will complete a comprehensive assessment to determine the needs of the individual and create a treatment plan.
Several treatment options are available to assist clients at Family Recovery Center. The intensive outpatient program (IOP) is for those struggling with drug or alcohol dependence and a requirement for clients receiving treatment for opioid dependence. Clients attend 30 sessions of three-hours each, three times per week. The facility also offers low intensity treatment groups that address such topics as skill development, parenting, nutrition, and money management. Other group treatment options address relapse prevention, aftercare, multiple offender prevention, family support, and more.
Family Recovery Center offers a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program to help relieve withdrawal symptoms for those struggling with opioid dependency. To be admitted to this program, clients undergo several assessments with a licensed professional to determine their needs. Afterwards, clients meet regularly with a medical doctor to discuss administration of medication, progress, and ongoing services.
Throughout the MAT process, clients engage in evidence-based counseling while receiving Suboxone, Naltrexone, methadone, or Vivitrol injections. Within Ohio, Family Recovery Center is among 4.6 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities that prescribe methadone, 37.9 percent that prescribe Suboxone, and among 41.1 percent that use Vivitrol.
In addition, Family Recovery Center operates the Fleming House. Women with children may stay for up to 18 months. During this time, women participate in 12-step fellowship and attend classes on relapse prevention, parenting, anger management, self esteem, codependency, and life skills. The program also offers case management, vocational development or schooling, aftercare.
Prevention services to the community include school-based programs, traffic safety, youth leadership, and an alcohol and drug abuse prevention coalition. A 72-hour overnight driver intervention program is offered for first-time OVI (operating vehicle under influence) offenders.
Family Recovery Center is licensed by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Within Ohio, it is among 52.8 percent of substance abuse facilities accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The multidisciplinary treatment team includes medical doctors, licensed counselors, and others.
