About Gateway Foundation— Chicago Independence

Philisophy

Since 1968 our goal has been straightforward: help clients get their life back on track and achieve a life of sobriety, free from drug use and symptoms of mental illness. A life that is productive, socially responsible, and healthy. Gateway Foundation is the largest nonprofit treatment provider in the U.S. specializing in substance use disorders for men, women, adolescents, and clients diagnosed with co-occurring mental health disorders. Gateway's professional clinicians support over 6000 people a day to successfully complete treatment by developing a personalized plan to treat the underlying causes of substance use disorder —not just their addiction to drugs or alcohol.

Specialization

Intensive Outpatient Drug & Alcohol Treatment

In an Intensive Outpatient treatment program, individuals participate in group and family counseling sessions several times per week, as well as one-on-one counseling sessions with their primary counselor. Treatment is usually four sessions per week that are three hours each, based on an individual's needs.

Dual Diagnosis Program

Co-occurring disorders can be difficult to diagnose because of the complexity of symptoms. There are many possible combinations of dual diagnoses, which means there are many possible symptoms. Today, addiction and psychiatric health are viewed more as part of a continuum, and clinicians are specially trained to deal with patients who have a co-occurring disorder. We are certified as one of the only dual diagnosis rehab centers in the Midwest.

This place is trash. Multiple O.D.ed on the premises while I was staying showing you how lackluster their security is.

They helped me accomplish my goal comfortably. Offered continued support. Activities and food were not all that great Try to spend most of your time with other patients who were admitted for the same reasons as you. It will make your stay much more enjoyable.

The training of the staff and cleanliness of the place were great. Not a long enough treatment My loved one relapsed due to not being away from drugs long enough.

Good people that work there and connect with the patients. The price may sometimes be a lot depending on your situation but they still have programs that help with that. It is effective, use good techniques and has more strengths that out weight the weaknesses. Sometimes looks somewhat dirty or some of the good workers arent there. It helped my loved one surpass his problem and he could again be with his family which is one of the best things that can happen in these situations. Dont be scared and just try this facility as it was really helpful and most likely saved the LIFE of a loved one.

some of the counselors were great and the food was great, but too many rules really and not enough enjoyable activities. Overall it was ok... a lot of tensions and not enough counselors available in a crisis it should have been more relaxed

knowledgeable and compassionate counsellers but not much help in transitioning back into your home life or job. My friend felt very nervous and scared about transitioning back into her job and home life. The counsellors should have given her more option an/or suggestions

CLEAN, LOVELY ENVIRONMENT. THE STAFF WAS WELL TRAINED AND KNEW THEIR JOB. THEY HAD WONDERFUL AMENITIES AND FAIR TREATMENT. THE PRICE COULD BE A LITTLE LOWER AND MORE FINANCIAL AID SHOULD BE USED TO HELP. ITS A GOOD PLACE TO GET THE HELP YOU NEED IF YOU HAVE SOME KIND OF SUBSTANCE OR MENTAL ISSUES. THE DOCTORS AND STAFF ARE REALLY SUPPORTIVE AND CONCERNED

location financial options were good, but too strict phone policies, need more staff. i found a couple of the counselors very rude, some food beverage restrictions seems exessive, same for the chance to contact family if there where too many people in line for the phone you didn't make the call being able to reach a counselor when neede

The staff at Gateway West taught me how to live a clean and sober life after 39 years of alcoholism/addiction. Their multi-faceted approach encompasses a variety of ways to assist in rehabilitation. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend Gateway. You all literally saved my life.

5 years later and I'm still clean. They didn't pressure... they guided and cared. There were aftercare options as well. However, there were too many patients with the amount of staff.

Gateway is a wonderful place to work, it does not just care about how many beds are filled as many residential tx centers are these days. been on both sides of the coin, as in recovery and in the profession. Been on both sides of the coin, as in recovery and in the profession, Gateway offers a strong employee roster of liscensed professionals who are also in recovery themselves

It was great! They were real about the difference outcomes if treatment wasn't obeyed. Put it in nut shell , they gave me the tools to work with so I can stay sober.
