Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (GCASA) operates four treatment facilities in Genesee and Orleans Counties of western New York. GCASA of Batavia, a community 41 miles west of Buffalo, offers outpatient programs for adult men and women struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. The location also houses GCASA's prevention services, administrative team, and Royal Employer Services: an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

The location is next door to GCASA’s residential program, Atwater Community Residence. An affiliated GCASA facility in Albion, N.Y. also provides outpatient care.

Upon admission, clients undergo an initial assessment to determine individual needs. Same-day and walk-in assessments are available. According to its website, GCASA strives to promote an atmosphere of generosity, hope, empathy, respect, encouragement, and empowerment. The Batavia location offers outpatient programs for adult men and women, as well as prevention-focused outpatient programs for adolescents.

To better treat its clientele, specialized group sessions are available, such as women’s only, opiate-focused treatment, gambling, and treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders. GCASA coordinates with area businesses to provide its no-cost employee assistance program (EAP). In addition, GCASA facilitates regular support groups for loved ones.

According to its website, GCASA also offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which utilizes evidence-based medications to help minimize the discomfort of opioid withdrawal and help curb cravings. According to a 2016 SAHMSA survey, GCASA is one of 11.2 percent of nationwide facilities to provide opioid-focused treatment programs.

Under the direction of the medical director, GCASA of Batavia employs an experienced staff of registered nurses and trained counselors.

Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni. However, the two individuals who left ratings on the GCASA's Facebook page, which the organization has the ability to manage, each awarded the center five out of five stars. [1]

The two loved ones polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided moderately positive feedback. They both gave the center four or five out of five stars for the likelihood that they would recommend the facility. However, they did each give three-star ratings for the facility's level of family participation.

“It helped my sister overcome her addiction,” one sibling wrote. Although offering a two-star rating for the staff's level of experience and training and criticizing group sessions, they added: “It was a good facility.”

The other loved one gave four-star ratings for the staff's level of experience and training, discharge planning, and counseling options, noting that the facility’s staff was “very helpful and courteous.”

There is currently no information provided on the facility's website regarding its costs. However, the two loved ones polled by Rehabs.com provided mixed opinions of the center’s affordability, offering five stars and two stars for this metric.

According to a [February 2018 article(]http://www.thedailynewsonline.com/bdn01/gcasa-awarded-19-million-for-detox-program-beds-20180227) by the Daily News, GCASA recently received $1.9 million in state funding for 16 additional beds dedicated to opioid detoxification.
