TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Genesys Hillside Center for Behavioral Services' website lists an array of conditions treated, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression and anxiety, post traumatic stress, obsessive compulsive disorder, grief, and loss.
Although the site does not mention treatment specifically for those struggling with substance misuse, two individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date both rated the treatment effectiveness five out of five stars. However, one anonymous reviewer noted that "Treatment sessions are short."
Before treatment, clients must complete a medical history form. Treatment sessions generally last 45 minutes, but a medication check might take as little as 15 minutes. Medication prescription and monitoring services are available to all clients, when needed, though the center prefers to offer medication in conjunction with therapy.
The facility provides counseling and psychotherapy sessions in individual and family settings that seek to capitalize on clients’ strengths. It also offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for individuals struggling with acute depression. The program meets every weekday morning, and uses positive activities and the pursuit of goals as its primary treatment method.
According to the website for Genesys Hillside Center for Behavioral Services, the treatment team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and social workers. The two individuals surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility perfect five out of five stars for their staff’s level of training and experience.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The two alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date gave mixed reviews of the facility. Though they both awarded high marks to the facility's overall effectiveness of treatment and quality of its administrative and discharge practices, as well as for connectivity, they each gave neutral or negative ratings for the facility's counseling options. However, the two anonymous reviewers gave high marks to categories related to staff. “Caring counselors,” one alum wrote in a representative review. Both also gave perfect five-star ratings for the likelihood they'd recommend the facility to others.
On Google, the facility received mixed reviews that skewed positive with a 3.6 star average rating based on 19 reviews at the time of this writing. Most positive reviewers tended to praise the staff, agreeing with those surveyed by Rehabs.com. Jazmine, who rated the facility five stars, wrote in a representative review: “The staff is always helpful and understanding," describing them as "extremely understanding and seem to really want to help me be the best possible version of myself.” Negative reviews, conversely, tended to criticize the staff as well as the unclean conditions and a lack of professionalism from doctors.
On Yelp, three alumni offered mostly negative feedback. Tom, a three-star reviewer, wrote that “This place is ok,” and complained about having to sit in the waiting room for a long time to see a counselor or, in one instance, for a counselor not to show up. Others discussed a lack of understanding and empathy from doctors.
According to the Genesys website, the facility accepts all major forms of insurance. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center’s affordability rated the category four out of five stars.
