ABOUT GRACE STREET — LEWISTON
Located in the community of Lewiston, Maine, 36 miles north of Portland, this Grace Street location offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP), aftercare programs, risk reduction services, and medically managed replacement therapy for individuals struggling with chemical dependency or co-occurring disorders. Unique to the facility, treatment is individualized to each client’s personal interests. According to the facility’s website, its treatment approach encourages clients to be “active change agents in their own lives — not simply passive recipients of care.”
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the center’s website, before beginning treatment, clinicians conduct a comprehensive assessment to develop a personalized treatment program. Grace Street also allows client interests to form the treatment approach. The facility’s website notes, Grace Street provides “a graceful, dignity-filled recovery ecosystem woven into the fabric of our community.”
Grace Street’s intensive outpatient program combines medication replacement therapy(Suboxone, Vivitrol, Naltrexone)with group and individual counseling sessions. Gender-specific groups are also available to address issues common among men or women struggling with addiction. Rehabs.com survey results indicated that clients may also be introduced to 12-step fellowship. In addition, psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management may be available to clients struggling with co-occurring mental health difficulties.
Along with its primary programming, Grace Street operates a wood shop, indoor skateboarding park, and art studio, allowing clients to participate in recreational and artistic pursuits while in treatment. Some of these activities include leather making and sculpture classes.
Upon completion of IOP, Grace Street provides a range of specialized aftercare groups, tailored to clients’ specific needs and interests. In an effort to reduce risk within the community, Grace Street also offers a needle exchange program.
According to the facility’s website, Grace Street employs an experienced team of physicians, licensed psychotherapists, and alcohol and drug counselors.

The other two alumni were less critical of the facility. One alum gave the center four stars for counseling options and five stars for exercise and leisure activities. “Great place for treatment. they have a indoor skate park and many other things you can do to help you,” the alum wrote. “awesome people!”
The other agreed. “They have plenty of aftercare groups to choose from and you can switch if you dont like,” the alum wrote. “I will recommend this place to anyone cause they helped me get clean and to stay clean.”
