Great Oaks was a life changer for me! The nurses ensure that you are comfortable throughout your stay especially during detox. The counselors have the clients best interest and were very good! The classes during the day are very helpful and also help one realize the importance of being involved in AA. They even give you a big book! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Made a huge impact in my life!

I went recently for alcohol abuse. This is mainly a detox center only. The therapy is only people from AA and AA materials all the time, not much else. You are bored out of your mind with nothing to do but read or listen to AA. You do this 90 hours a week. 7am - 8pm. You are locked out of your room during that time. Very little tv or outside activities, just smoking 90% of the time on breaks. If you don\'t smoke, you\'ll be even more distressed. If you want to leave it is very difficult. They limit you to almost no phone use or contact outside. I had to leave early because of the lackluster \"therapy\" and boredom. It was a huge conflict to get out on my request, almost being held against my will. Go for detox, SHORT stay only. The rest go somewhere else or use outpatient therapy.

My son spent 30 days in May at this facility and it saved his life - they taught him about addiction, how to deal with it and how to accept it and how to bring these skills home. They saved his life, brought my son back into my life and if you or someone you love are serious about handling addiction -- this is THE place to go. My son is still in constant contact with his counselor , is serious about handling it with AA on a constant basis. I can not say enough good things about this place.

Great oaks is a waste of your time. It should just be called oaks recovery because it\'s so underwhelming. You see a counselor for an hour a week. 4 hours total for the 30 days you\'re in rehab. They couldn\'t possibly assist in diagnosing you with the psychiatrist via teleconference. The doctors aren\'t on site and once you\'re out of detox good luck getting an appointment. If you aren\'t serious about your recovery you could easily sneak something in. They don\'t check the detox bedrooms before/after each admit. I slept on a bed with broken pool sticks stuffed in between the mattress/box spring for 6 days which caused me to be put on muscle relaxers with no previous history of sciatic nerve pain. I discovered the cause and I brought it up to the nursing staff in detox and nothing was done. No apologies. No plan to ensure this doesn\'t happen to anyone else. A mere shoulder shrug and \"oh no, how did those get there?!\". The nursing staff misses doses medications due to overworking and short staffed. The technicians in charge of looking after us could care less about being at work and it shows. This place over promises and under delivers with treatment plans. They overdosed me on medications causing me to urinate on myself during sleep and fall out of bed onto the floor because my legs wouldn\'t work. When an alcoholic/addict one would think of a life skills class in terms of how to deal with cravings/bad days/arguments and continue sobriety but you would be wrong, last nights life skills class was \"how to do your taxes\". Today I withdrew consent for treatment and was denied my phone for 4 hours because the director wanted to stick it to me for advocating for the best patient care for myself and opting to go elsewhere. I’m friends with the director of business development who personally called Orlando and asked that I be able to call my mom for pick up. When brought up to Orlando with the request to call ASAP his response was “I don’t work for Maggie”. For 20k I shouldn\'t have these issues- repeated mistakes- horrible treatment. It\'s 9:00pm now and my mom will have been in the car for 8 hours round trip to bring me home so I could get into a facility that actually cares about it\'s patients.
