About Green Oak Ranch
Christ centered so we can walk his path and not our own.
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.

ABOUT GREEN OAK RANCH
Green Oak Ranch is a community-based, Christ-focused residential work-therapy program for men and women in Vista, Calif., less than an hour from anywhere in San Diego County. One of just 440 (33.6 percent) of long-term programs in the state, Green Oak Ranch requires residents seeking chemical dependency and behavioral health treatment make a minimum commitment of nine months.
Green Oak Ranch does not provide detoxification services (it does not have a medical staff), however, it does partner with local detox centers. New clients must pass drug tests before entering the program.
The facility also hosts Christian camps and retreats.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at Green Oak Ranch begins with an extensive admissions process. Clients must pass a drug test and background test (for violent and destructive crimes) before being admitted to the program. Clients must also call (and speak to a counselor or leave a message) for at least five, consecutive days to demonstrate their commitment to change. After the fifth day, an in-person interview is scheduled.
The faith-based program combines Christian teachings to promote self-improvement with a work-therapy and community involvement model that offers clients opportunity to participate in a variety of activities to help them strengthen their recovery. The focus on working combined with Christian teachings provides a physical and spiritual method of developing a sober living lifestyle. Green Oak Ranch is one of 604 (46.1 percent) of statewide treatment centers that incorporates employment into the treatment process
Program participants work eight-hour days in various positions both inside and outside of the program to help maintain the operations of the facility and support local activities. Clients are required to commit to a minimum of nine months and adhere to regular drug testing throughout their stay.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Of the four loved ones surveyed by Rehabs.com to date, two shared details of positive treatment experiences and results.
In one such review, eternally grateful and proud parent Terri claimed that treatment saved her daughter: “She was provided with a caring staff, counseling, accountability, and work ethic and most of all the beautiful surroundings in nature.” “Great staff and location but not good if you don't like nature,” a second, anonymous loved one wrote. “It worked wonders for my brother! The staff is amazing and helped get him back on the right path.”
Although reporting a relapse, a third reviewer felt the program would’ve been beneficial if their friend had stayed. “It can help with restoring a person to a sober life and employability if they stay long enough. In my friend's case, 60 days was not long enough,” they told Rehabs.com. “They only take ‘good’ cases, no lost or angry souls,” one-star reviewer Val added.
While work helps clients cover the costs of programming, accommodations, and meals, the first month's fee of $635 is due upon admission, which includes an initial intake fee of $235. Each month thereafter is $400.

TerriGreen Oak Ranch saved my daughter's life. When multiple attempts at other recovery centers failed. She was provided with a caring staff, counseling, accountability and work ethic and most of all the beautiful surroundings in nature. She was also able to strengthen her faith by attending church services at the Chapel on site. Five years later she is finally free and living a happy drug free life. I am eternally grateful to my pastor for referring me and to the entire staff at Green Oaks Ranch.
ValThey only take "good" cases, no lost or angry souls. Apparently, their God is selective. What kind of Christian program is it? Shame on you, Green Oak.

AnonymousThe facility has a strict policy and each person entering has to pass a breathalizer test before being admitted. It does not have medical staff and cannot help with detox, but it can help with restoring a person to a sober life and employability if they stay long enough. In my friend's case, 60 days was not long enough. We chose the place because 6-9 months stay was usual, and would have helped if she'd been willing to stay.
AnonymousOverall a good facility, with some areas of improvement
