Harbor Village Philosophy
Harbor Village believes that everyone is entitled to quality substance abuse treatment, regardless of background or circumstance. To this end, the drug and alcohol detox and rehab facility offers affordable, compassionate care that’s customized to each individual. With comfort as a top priority, each client is provided with a customized, medically assisted recovery regime that’s tailored specifically to his or her level of addiction.
Areas of Specialization
Dual Diagnosis/Co-occurring Disorders Treatment
These two terms describe a person who is not only addicted to drugs or alcohol, but also has a mental or emotional illness, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. Facilities that treat patients with dual-diagnosis or co-occurring disorders provide psychiatric treatment in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.
Process Abuse Treatment
Not all addictions involve mood-altering chemicals. The term “process addiction” describes the unhealthy use of behaviors (including eating, gambling, sexual activity, shopping, internet use, etc.) that has spiraled out of control and into the realm of addiction.
Trauma & Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT)
Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT) uses the brain’s innate ability to adapt to change in a healing way, essentially “retraining” the brain to respond differently to familiar memories of trauma or pain.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy (also called CBT) is helping people to understand the thoughts and emotions that underlie their addiction with the goal of learning new, healthier and more productive ways to understand and express themselves.
Everything I've been able to achieve now, I owe to Harbor Village. They taught me how to live again. I can never repay what they've done for me.
Harbor Village has saved my life. I love the entire staff, every one of them was an active part of my recovery, and I couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out!
I have two sons that were at Harbor Village for detox. My one son was stressing about going through withdrawals again, so he was reluctant to go anywhere to detox. I spoke to Chris NOT once, NOT twice, NOT even Three times- honestly I can't remember how many times Chris would answer my call or text, it didn't matter if it was at 11 pm or a Sunday morning. He would send my son a text letting him know they were waiting and it would be OK I can't believe how Great this detox center is!
I loved Harbor Village it definitely changed my life for the best I would recommend it to anyone who has hit rock bottom amazing staff that really cares...
Harbor Village has helped me overcome my addiction entirely. I am a brand new person, and I wouldn't have been able to get here on my own! Thank you!
The only reason why I'm okay today, is because of Harbor Village. They went above and beyond for me, unlike any other treatment center I've been to. This time, I know I won't need another.

ABOUT HARBOR VILLAGE
Located in a residential area 10 miles north of central Miami, Harbor Village offers detox, luxury residential programming, and outpatient care for adults struggling with addiction and dual diagnosis.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, programs are personalized, and combine holistic and medical approaches with a strong cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) component. The center also emphasizes relapse prevention training and family counseling, and offers gender-specific groups and medication-assisted therapy (MAT) — the facility’s website notes a methadone program, but not Suboxone. Clients are welcome to participate in 12-step programming, though this is not the foundation of treatment.
Residential care typically lasts 30 to 90 days. The center also offers outpatient care at a variety of intensities: a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and general outpatient care. Depending on their level of need, outpatient clients visit the facility between three and five days per week.
Harbor Village’s sober living facilities offer supportive sober living along with a job training component and access to holistic therapies such as yoga and meditation.
All clients leave with a comprehensive plan for life after treatment; when necessary, the center offers help with professional and educational goals and finding a stable living environment.
According to the facility’s website, staff includes psychiatrists, psychologists, and licensed therapists, and there’s a medical team on-site 24/7. The chief medical officer has a B.A. in nursing and 20 years of experience in the field, and several staff members are in recovery themselves.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
This is a 45-bed facility with some private rooms. The website boasts of the center’s daily gourmet meals, XBox consoles, Netflix, and free WiFi, as well as its 30,000 square feet of outdoor space, movie nights, and gaming parties. Holistic offerings include daily yoga and meditation, acupuncture, and an on-site spa and salon.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Of the 96 reviews submitted to Rehabs.com to date, 84 were very positive and 12 very negative. In both the negative and the positive camps, there was a lot of overlap between reviews: the positive reviewers frequently described a pain-free withdrawal; praised the physical facility, often describing it as resort-like; praised the center’s aftercare and relapse prevention provisions, and the individualized nature of treatment; and spoke very highly of the staff. Numerous reviewers also described successfully achieving sobriety at this facility, having been unsuccessful at other centers. “The beauty and comfort of the place cannot be compared with any other regular facility,” Mejia wrote in one representative review, and in another, Flynn09 wrote: “In my experience, relapse prevention is as important as the rehabilitation and detox programs. You can’t stay on the road to sobriety unless your core issues are resolved. That is what the treatment plans at harbor village brought into the equation.” “I can't explain how grateful I am. This place was a real life saver,” Edwin added, in a typically effusive comment.
The negative reviewers repeatedly described feeling that the treatment and facility did not live up to promises, in particular complaining about discomfort and bad food. “This place was horrible. Everything they offer is a lie... The food was horrible, not gourmet at all..3 people to a room wich are dirty, the nurses could care less about the patients,it's a paycheck to them, the case managers were horrible, that's if u could find them and they didn't ignore you,” Mike wrote in a representative review. Other reviewers echoed these comments about uncaring staff, with more than one alum noting that some staff members were very young and in early sobriety themselves, and that they did not take the program seriously. Two reviewers also noted that the center was in a bad neighborhood.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
All seven of the loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date gave positive feedback. Recurring praise was awarded to the facility’s aftercare provisions and staff. “The aftercare programs at Harbor Village include all type of relapse prevention techniques,” H. wrote, and Jo added: “The environment is healthy and full of life that helps people in recovery to prevent relapse. The counselors motivate them to live a healthy and addiction free life.” Several loved ones also noted that the facility kept them up-to-date on the client’s progress.
Treatments costs $25,000 per month, and Harbor Village accepts insurance from a total of 38 carriers. Financial assistance is available, covering up to 100 percent of the cost of treatment, depending on the client’s level of need.
