ABOUT HOPE OF EAST TENNESSEE- OAK RIDGE, TENNESSEE
HOPE of East Tennessee is a non-profit organization that provides gender-specific residential treatment as well as outpatient services and intensive outpatient treatment for alcohol and drug addictions, as well as mental health concerns. HOPE does not offer detox services and requires that the participants be substance-free before beginning treatment.
TREATMENT AND ASSESSMENT
HOPE bases most of its treatment around the 12-Step program. Women entering the first phase of transitional living must have already successfully completed a 28-day inpatient treatment program. After entering phase one of the transition program, they begin intensive outpatient treatment while staying in one of the transition homes and receiving staff and peer support. They are assisted in finding employment and developing a sober support system before moving into phase two.
Phase two offers continued support and assistance of staff as individuals return home and begin a new, productive, sober life. Length of stay in the residences averages around six months. Upon completing the phases of transitional treatment, the women may also receive outpatient services including aftercare, individual counseling, and special focus groups on topics such as relapse prevention and dual diagnosis.
The men’s program offers a halfway house residential treatment home set up as a therapeutic community, where most of the decision-making power is in the hands of the clients. Privilege levels, discharges, etc. are still determined by the staff. Upon admission, each client has a thorough assessment completed, is assigned an individual counselor/case manager, and undergoes a specialized course of treatment determined by the client’s needs and problems. Length of stay in the residence averages anywhere from 90 to 120 days and is flexible based on the needs of the resident. Clients also must complete random drug screens during their stays.
Staff at the facility consist of administrative workers, counselors, and residence coordinators. The facility does not specify if there are medical staff members available. One alum polled by Rehabs.com rated staff's level of experience a perfect five stars, while one loved one rated it three stars.
