ABOUT HORIZON HEALTH SERVICES
With more than 20 facilities in Western New York, Horizon Health Services provides a range of treatment programs for clients dealing with chemical dependency, psychiatric disorders, and co-occurring disorders. In Buffalo, Horizon Health Services operates its corporate office, as well as a residential treatment programs and medical detox, the latter of which is available in just 3.6 percent of non-hospital treatment facilities in the state.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at Horizon Health Services begins with a comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral assessment to determine the most appropriate level of care. If necessary, detox services are provided at a facility called Terrace House. After which, clients are referred to one of three residential facilities: Horizon Village for adults, Freedom Village for veterans, or Delta Village for adolescents.
Horizon Health Services is among the 17.3 percent of facilities in New York offering specialized programming for veterans, and among the 25.4 percent of facilities in New York offering specialized programming for adolescents. Across all residential programs, psychiatric evaluations and care is available to those struggling with co-occurring mental health concerns.
All of the treatment programs include group therapy and on-on-one counseling, as well as educational coursework to learn more about addiction and coping methods. In addition, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is available, as indicated. Family counseling is also encouraged.
Ongoing aftercare is available for all successful graduates. Clients are also encouraged to reconnect with family members and support groups within their communities.
Horizon Health Services' treatment team includes nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, substance abuse and mental health counselors, family counselors, and residential aids. To date, the 10 individuals polled by Rehabs.com on the matter appreciated the aptitude of staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The Terrace House offers 68 beds for detox and stabilization. Located about a half hour away on three acres of land, Horizon Village is a one-story, 50-bed facility set in two residential wings with 24-double-occupancy rooms and two single-occupancy rooms. Amenities include a dining hall, a fitness center, gardens, a picnic area, a softball diamond, and a basketball court. To date, the 10 individuals polled by Rehabs.com concerning the facility's upkeep generally approved of its cleanliness.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The majority of former clients surveyed by Rehabs.com to date (four out of five) gave the facility positive feedback. They described the staff as experienced and well-trained and the treatment as highly effective. "The group sessions were inspiring and calming," an anonymous alum wrote in a representative review. "The exercises were great at targeting what personal triggers individuals have and how to address those problems in a progressive manner."
On Google, the rehab earned an average rating of 3.8 out of five stars based on five reviews. Dianndra, the one alum to leave commentary, wrote: "Nice place and nice people."

The majority of loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date (four out of five) gave Horizon Health Services positive feedback and praised both the staff and the diverse programming. "Good workers, good food and good programs and lots of choices," an anonymous loved one wrote in a representative review. The five loved ones offered moderately positive ratings for the facility's counseling options, amount of family participation, and for likelihood they'd recommend the facility to others.

WHAT STAFF SAY
The two staffers surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave Horizon Health Services mostly positive reviews, awarding the facility four or five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness, its family participation, its counseling options, and its treatment of co-occurring disorders. However, one noted that the program was “a bit expensive,” while the other indicated that it could use more one-on-one counseling.
Horizon Health Services accepts private insurance, as well as Medicaid and Medicare, the latter of which is taken by 45.4 percent of treatment facilities in New York. To date, the 10 individuals polled on the matter offered mixed opinions concerning the facility's cost.

Anonymouscasacs with very strong demeanor were great sponsors and advisors but checking in and payment procedures took longer than necessary. the group sessions were inspiring and calming. meeting with casacs on a regular basis was beneficial for recovery . the exercises were great at targeting what personal triggers individuals have and how to address those problems in a progressive manner. the facility itself is second rate. but the quality of treatment was definitely a benefit
