Houston Medical Center is one of seven facilities operated in central Georgia by Houston Healthcare. Alongside a range of medical services, the hospital offers a behavioral health and psychiatry department that provides residential care for adults seeking treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Medical detox services are available on-site.

Houston Medical Center's Adult Behavioral Health program focuses on holistic and evidence-based methods and technologies to treat behavioral health concerns. While in treatment, clients are monitored around-the-clock by a team of nurses to ensure their safety and address all medical concerns. The facility also offers crisis intervention services, which helps clients begin their recovery. Clients or their families can request intervention services.

Clients participate in individualized treatment plans focused on addressing the underlying behaviors that contribute to their addiction. Counseling sessions, facilitated by a team of licensed and certified counselors, may include individual and group counseling settings. Clients may also participate in educational classes, therapeutic recreation, and coping skills workshops.

Dually diagnosed clientele may also receive ongoing medication management. Clients’ family members also have access to family counseling and support groups that focus on addiction and recovery education.

An aftercare program is also available to clients who complete the residential program. This program includes weekly support groups that focus on a variety of topics to help clients maintain a sober lifestyle.

In addition, the hospital offers a program for clients with chronic pain, which uses a multidisciplinary approach to decrease medication, encourage responsibility, and improve communication to avoid medication dependency.
