Additionally, the established multi-facility agency offers residential and outpatient programs for children, adolescents and adults with addiction and/or mental health disorders. Men and women dependent on opiates and other narcotics also have access to Medication-Assisted Therapy at various locations throughout the city.

The HRDI Division for Addiction Treatment has multiple locations in Chicago, and each facility has different specialties.

HRDI’s Southwest Central location provides methadone maintenance and outpatient counseling services for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The agency has two additional locations — one at 340 E. 51st Street, and one at 8000 S. Racine Ave. — that offer medication-assisted treatment.

Near West Professional Services is a residential facility for adult males, including court-referred clients. For pregnant and non-pregnant women, HRDI provides care in the Harriet Tubman residence, an around-the-clock, supervised facility that enables women to bring their dependent children (ages four and younger) with them. In a different location across town, an all-female residential facility called Essence House offers dual diagnosis treatment.

Through HRDI's Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services, clients receive criminal justice and child protection services as well as school-based services. Substance abuse treatment is available to children between the ages of 12 to 17, and a team of teachers, counselors, and social workers work to help students improve their academic performance. A second HRDI facility treats children between the ages of three and 14 with various mental health disorders. It uses individual, group, and family therapy.

Additionally, HRDI provides a comprehensive set of health and prevention resources, including HIV testing and problem gambling treatment and education for adults.

HRDI is led by a board of directors, many of whom hold master's and Ph.D. level qualifications.
