ABOUT JERSEY CITY MEDICAL CENTER – BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

Located on a 15-acre campus overlooking New York Harbor, Jersey City Medical Center provides a range of healthcare services to the residents of Jersey City and surrounding areas. Its offerings include behavioral health services for individuals dealing with psychiatric emergencies, mental illnesses and disabilities, and substance abuse. Although the facility offers a wide range of services, substance abuse programming is administered in an intensive outpatient (IOP) setting, making it one of the 225 (65.4 percent) programs in the state with this service. Detox services are not available on site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

As part of a larger offering that includes crisis stabilization and treatment for psychiatric disorders, Jersey City Medical Center provides some services for adults who are struggling with chemical dependency. Medical care is available 24/7 to meet the needs of clients.

Assessments are conducted by multidisciplinary teams of specialists to create a holistic perspective of a client’s health. The center administers drug testing and provides monitoring when needed to help clients maintain their sobriety. Treatment is offered through intensive outpatient groups. Treatment includes counseling for individuals, groups, or families. Clients may continue to receive aftercare following the completion of their treatment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to Jersey City Medical Center’s website, the staff is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The multidisciplinary treatment team includes physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, and counselors. The hospital and its staff are accredited and licensed while holding higher education degrees in their respective specialties.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, the sole alum of Jersey City Medical Center's Behavioral Health Services has to submit feedback to Rehabs.com reported a positive experience. This former client gave the program’s treatment effectiveness four out of five stars, but warned potential clients that success was relative to their effort and willingness to commit to the program. He gave holistic treatment offerings, cleanliness, and accommodations and amenities five out of five stars each.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Rehabs.com had yet to receive feedback from family members or friends of clients at this facility to date.

On Google, the entire medical center earned an average of 2.7 out of five stars from 229 reviews to date.[1] While most of the reviews centered around the emergency room, the few that discussed behavioral services were not very positive. Loved one Michael was disappointed in his wife’s treatment and wrote, “It was a complete waste of time and should never go here because they may just keep you their against your will for hours and you will still have nothing done.”

FINANCING

According to Jersey City Medical Center’s website, the hospital works with most major insurance providers. Additionally, both Medicare (accepted at 25.9 percent of treatment centers in the state) and Medicaid (accepted at 60.8 percent of state facilities) are accepted. Financial assistance is available as Jersey City Medical Center does not refuse services based on an individual’s inability to pay for services.
