JourneyPure Voyage Philosophy

JourneyPure Voyage is a safe and welcoming environment where women from across the south begin their journey of healing. Voyage believes that addiction, mental illness, and trauma have robbed individuals of the ability to experience life in healthy ways. Our therapeutic services are gender-specific and focus on a holistic approach to recovery.

Areas of Specialization

  • Aftercare Support
Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.

  • Individual Therapy
This term describes one-on-one therapy, in which a patient and trained counselor, social worker, psychologist or psychiatrist meets privately with a patient to discuss challenges related to lifestyle, work, family and romantic relationships that may have contributed to the development of an addiction.

JourneyPure operates six residential facilities and six outpatient facilities in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Florida. Located in a leafy residential area of the city of Murfreesboro, 35 miles southeast of Nashville, JourneyPure Voyage is one of the only 72 (31.7%) of facilities in the state to offer residential treatment for professional women who are struggling with substance abuse. Additionally, it services women with dual diagnosis mental health disorders, a program that is available at only 116 (51.1%) Tennessee facilities. Counseling for codependency and process addictions such as work addiction and disordered eating is also available here.

Medical detox is not available on-site, but JourneyPure does offer detox at JourneyPure At the River, a co-ed facility nearby in Murfreesboro.

JourneyPure Voyage bills itself as a "leader" in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and offers a specialized DBT program for women struggling with substance use disorder. In the facility’s own words, “DBT is designed to treat a variety of issues that can feel out-of-control and hopeless such as disordered eating, Borderline Personality Disorder, suicidal thinking, depression, anger, relationship issues, and anxiety.”

In addition to DBT, JourneyPure Voyage offers specialized programming for trauma, including a trauma recovery and empowerment model (TREM) and eye movement desensitization and reprogramming (EMDR). Psychoeducational sessions cover topics such as wellness, professional burnout, and distress, and clients can also take advantage of neurofeedback sessions and peer support.

The center offers extensive experiential therapies as well, such as a ropes course, equine therapy, songwriting workshops, expressive art therapy, and somatic experiencing. Holistic options include Kundalini yoga and an exercise program.

Following treatment, the facility keeps in touch with alumni via its own JourneyPure Coaching app, through which alumni are assigned an individualized program of recovery and a personal recovery coach. Alumni also receive regular phone calls from staff and access to continuing care groups, a component of 93.4% of facilites in the state, along with alumni events.

According to the facility’s website, staff includes mental health and food addiction counselors. In Tennessee, 99.1% of all substance abuse treatment facilities have continuing education requirements for staff.

JourneyPure Voyage offers women an upscale, homelike environment. Women share spacious double-occupancy bedrooms in a historic red-brick home, and the facility boasts a well-appointed dining room, living room, and an outside courtyard with a fountain. According to the facility’s website, meals are organic and prioritize whole foods.

REVIEWS has yet to receive reviews from this facility’s alumni, affiliated loved ones, or staff, and secondary sites yielded limited but unanimously positive feedback.

On Facebook (where the center can manage its own page), JourneyPure Voyage had a 4.6-star average rating from 10 users to date.[1] Nine of these individuals gave a perfect five stars and repeatedly noted that treatment at the facility had saved their lives. “It saved my life! These women are incredible! They were my Angel's. Very understanding, compassion everyone have in there blood and ,souls. I would recommend them ,and Voyage to anyone. God bless Voyage, and the women that works there,” M.C. wrote in a representative review.

The sole criticism on Facebook, a one-star review, came from the husband of a former client. He explained that other clients treated his wife poorly, and that the staff di nothing to help.

According to JourneyPure Voyage’s website, the facility accepts most major health insurance providers, and has a relationship with Prosper HealthCare Lending to increase the accessibility of treatment.
