Kent Hospital is a major medical hospital in central Rhode Island, operated by nonprofit Care New England, which also runs several other hospitals in Rhode Island. The hospital offers a behavioral health unit that provides inpatient care for individuals struggling with a range of mental health disorders, as well as substance use disorder.

Kent Hospital also operates a behavioral health unit at Butler Hospital in nearby Providence, another Care New England hospital.

Kent Hospital provides very little specific information about its addiction treatment programs, though the facility's website does note that services at nearby Butler Hospital comprise individual therapy, 12-step meetings, medication management services, and a range of groups, such as medication education groups, family support groups, focus groups, and occupational therapy activity groups. Since the two units are operated by the same group, Kent Hospital likely offers a similar roster of services.

Kent Hospital also offers spiritual and pastoral care in all of its departments, courtesy of volunteers and interfaith chaplains.

Kent Hospital's behavioral health unit is staffed by board-certified psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses, and patients also have access to the hospital's numerous other doctors. The single individual polled by to date gave the facility four out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.

Kent Hospital's behavioral health unit offers 11 beds, and Kent's unit at Butler Hospital offers 20 beds. There is currently no further information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, though prospective clients can expect a hospital rather than a homely setting. The single individual polled by to date gave the facility four out of five stars for its accommodations, three stars for its meals and exercise/leisure offerings, and two stars for its cleanliness.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY has not yet received any reviews directly from alumni of the behavioral health department and secondary sites yielded no coverage of the department and mixed coverage of Kent Hospital as a whole, at the time of this writing: the hospital had a two-star average rating based on 25 reviews on Yelp, and a 3.7-star average rating based on 426 reviews on Facebook, where the hospital can manage its own page.[1] [2]

The negative reviewers repeatedly described what Yelp reviewer J.L. termed a "disregard for patient health." "This place is horrible. I've been here for 3 days it took me a week to even finally have someone addmiit me after 3 trips to the ER... You can wait up to a hour for a nurse or for your medication," D.A. wrote in a representative review on Yelp.

However, several reviewers described receiving efficient treatment from polite, engaged staff. "My stay was very pleasant, staff attentive and professional, patient and caring. I love our little hospital and all the improvements they've made. It is a pleasant experience," J.P. wrote in a representative review on Facebook.

Despite giving Kent Hospital's Behavioral Health department four stars for its treatment effectiveness and its family participation, the single loved one polled by to date would not recommend this facility. "Too expensive," they wrote, giving the center a mediocre three stars for its holistic offerings, counseling options, and ability to treat co-occurring disorders.

Kent Hospital accepts most insurances, and attempts to verify insurance coverage before a new client is admitted. The hospital also provides some financial assistance. The single individual polled by to date gave the facility two out of five stars for its affordability.
