ABOUT KINGS VIEW MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
Founded in 1951, Kings View provides behavioral health services for underserved communities, particularly rural communities. It is a faith-based organization. In Hanford, 35 miles south of Fresno in central California, the center provides outpatient counseling for mental health disorders and substance use disorder. It is one of the 720 (54.9 percent) of California treatment facilities to treat co-occurring disorders. Detox is not available.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment starts with an assessment to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Clients meet with skilled counselors and assessment specialists to determine the exact factors to a client’s condition.
The facility provides outpatient counseling focused on improving clients’ mental health. Crisis intervention services are available through the Central Valley Suicide Prevention Hotline or through the facility itself. Intervention services are available to help families.
Some clients are referred to Kings View through the court system. Clients can use therapy services to address legal concerns.
Kings View offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) using both Suboxone and Methadone. In 2017, 7,433 (1.8 percent) of clients in treatment in California completed MAT programs. Both Suboxone and Methadone are offered for short-term detoxification or as a long-term maintenance measure.
One of the center’s primary programs is an evidence-based dual diagnosis program. The center also offers outpatient counseling services for drug and alcohol abuse, including services for court-ordered clients, intervention services, and DUI programming. In California, 117 (8.9 percent ) of facilities offer DUI/DWI programs.
When it comes to mental health, Kings View’s services are significantly built around self-help and peer support. Services include psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT). The primary model of therapy is group therapy; individual therapy supplements the group therapy.
The staff includes physicians, certified and registered addiction specialists, nurses, and pharmacists. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the center five out of five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The single alum polled by Rehabs.com about Kings View to date gave mostly positive feedback. Although they gave the center just two out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, they also indicated that they would recommend treatment at this facility, and gave it five out of five stars for its counseling options, and its treatment for co-occurring disorders. “Helpfulness. caring for people,” the anonymous alum wrote.
On its Facebook page, which the facility can manage, Kings View earned 4.9 out of five stars from 12 reviews at the time of this writing.  Alumni provided positive feedback to the facility for its affordability and for the effectiveness of the treatment program. On Google, the facility earned 2.8 out of five stars from five reviews. Chris wrote in a representative review: “Good therapy, long waits.”
WHAT STAFF SAY
On Indeed, KINGS VIEW has an average rating of 4.2 out of five stars from 10 reviews to date. Staff described the facility as “Very productive,” “fun,” and a great learning environment. Some staff members did note that they were asked “at home late at night to cover shifts” and that it lacked “advancement opportunity.”
Kings View programs are covered by MediCal, Medicare, and private insurers, and private pay is also accepted. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the center four out of five stars for its affordability.
