ABOUT KINGWOOD PINES HOSPITAL

Kingwood Pines Hospital is a psychiatric treatment facility located in Kingwood, Texas, which is about 28 miles outside of Houston. The facility has both inpatient and outpatient programs for adults and adolescents struggling with chemical dependency, primary psychiatric disorders, or co-occurring disorders. King Pines Hospital is also among the 8.8 percent of hospital-based treatment facilities in Texas to provide medical detox.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

A no-cost psychiatric assessment is used during admission to evaluate client’s needs. Addiction treatment at Kingwood Pines Hospital emphasizes relapse prevention skills and comprehensive discharge planning.

Along with acute detoxification services, clients may participate in counseling sessions, educational classes, coping skills workshops, and therapeutic recreation. The inpatient program is short-term and designed to stabilize and prepare clients for a lower level of care, which is typically the facility's chemical dependency intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Kingwood Pines Hospital is among the 53.8 percent of facilities in Texas to offer this level of outpatient treatment. Available to both adults and adolescents, the facility's partial hospitalization programs (PHP) are more appropriate for those struggling with primary or co-occurring mental health concerns.

The facility also offers crisis services to adolescents ages 12 to 17 struggling with a psychiatric and/or behavioral concern. Adolescents participate in Individual, family and group counseling sessions, therapeutic recreation, and addiction education classes. To involve families, the hospital also offers multi-family groups and parent education and support groups. An age-specific chemical dependency IOP is also available to adolescents.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The three former clients polled by Rehabs.com to date gave Kingwood Pines Hospital mostly positive feedback, and described the treatment as effective and comprehensive. "This was a fantastic facility to get help and recovery steps - I enjoyed inpatient treatment, and the after treatment sessions," an anonymous alum wrote in a representative review.

Complaints, though few and far between, included lack of staff and few amenities. However, the two alumni polled on specific metrics awarded high four- and five-star ratings for the facility's staff experience, ability to treat co-occurring disorders, and its discharge planning. "Excellent IOP followup program," one alum wrote.

The hospital as a whole fared poorly on secondary sites, earning average ratings of 1.9 out of five stars based on 146 Google reviews[1] and one out of five stars based on 12 Yelp reviews[2]. Excellent IOP followup program. I was admitted for chemical dependency and depression. I had been abusing a prescribed benzo* for 10 yrs. After completing a 10 day inpatient stay I was detox ed and released to begin an intensive 2month,daily outpatient program. I did the work. I stayed the course. It gets easier over time. I'm in my 5th year of sobriety. Kingwood Pines helped me get on track, gave me the cognitive behavioral tools to stay on track. I feel they actually helped me get my life back.
