A no-cost psychiatric assessment is used during admission to evaluate client’s needs. Addiction treatment at Kingwood Pines Hospital emphasizes relapse prevention skills and comprehensive discharge planning.
Along with acute detoxification services, clients may participate in counseling sessions, educational classes, coping skills workshops, and therapeutic recreation. The inpatient program is short-term and designed to stabilize and prepare clients for a lower level of care, which is typically the facility's chemical dependency intensive outpatient program (IOP).
Kingwood Pines Hospital is among the 53.8 percent of facilities in Texas to offer this level of outpatient treatment. Available to both adults and adolescents, the facility's partial hospitalization programs (PHP) are more appropriate for those struggling with primary or co-occurring mental health concerns.
The facility also offers crisis services to adolescents ages 12 to 17 struggling with a psychiatric and/or behavioral concern. Adolescents participate in Individual, family and group counseling sessions, therapeutic recreation, and addiction education classes. To involve families, the hospital also offers multi-family groups and parent education and support groups. An age-specific chemical dependency IOP is also available to adolescents.
Kingwood Pines Hospital employs a multidisciplinary team of mental and behavioral health specialists which is overseen by a resident psychiatrist. Staff members include registered nurses, social workers, and licensed professional counselors. To date, the five individuals polled by Rehabs.com about the staff indicated that they were knowledgeable and experienced.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Kingwood Pines Hospital has 116 beds in total, though it's not clear from the website how many are devoted to the chemical dependency program or detoxification. The hospital's campus includes an on-site gym, outdoor seating, dining hall, playground and fenced-in backyard. The five individuals surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing indicated that the hospital was clean and well-kept, though lacked amenities.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The three former clients polled by Rehabs.com to date gave Kingwood Pines Hospital mostly positive feedback, and described the treatment as effective and comprehensive. "This was a fantastic facility to get help and recovery steps - I enjoyed inpatient treatment, and the after treatment sessions," an anonymous alum wrote in a representative review.
Complaints, though few and far between, included lack of staff and few amenities. However, the two alumni polled on specific metrics awarded high four- and five-star ratings for the facility's staff experience, ability to treat co-occurring disorders, and its discharge planning. "Excellent IOP followup program," one alum wrote.
The hospital as a whole fared poorly on secondary sites, earning average ratings of 1.9 out of five stars based on 146 Google reviews and one out of five stars based on 12 Yelp reviews. Across both sites, the majority of alumni who left comments complained about rude staff and a disorganized environment. "The staff was incredibly rude and the fights there were recurring. the staff hardly put forth the effort to stop them," Jaye wrote in a representative review on Google.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Of the three loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date, two gave the hospital positive reviews, while one offered negative feedback. The two satisfied respondents reported that while the facility was not very luxurious, it was clean and provided effective treatment.
The one negative reviewer, however, indicated that treatment was not successful for their family member despite numerous visits. All three loved ones offered either a three- or four-star rating concerning the level of family involvement.
Kingwood Pines Hospital accepts some private insurance, such as Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Humana. The facility also takes Medicaid and Medicare, the latter of which is accepted by 17.9 percent of treatment facilities in Texas. To date, the five individuals polled on the matter by Rehabs.com offered mixed opinions regarding cost.
