Men enrolled in residential treatment progress through a phase-like process in which they learn to develop positive behaviors and build a system of recovery supports.
HSC provides two medication-assisted outpatient programs for clients with opiate dependence: the Outpatient Methadone program, which includes case management services and requires participation in both group and individual sessions, and the Outpatient Suboxone program, which, in addition to group and individual sessions, provides physician consultation and regular medication evaluations with a nurse. According to a 2017 SAMHSA survey, 66 rehab facilities (10.4 percent) in Illinois offer treatment with methadone and 128 (20.2 percent) offer treatment with Suboxone.
According to its website, HSC employs approximately 275 professionals, including psychiatrists, physicians, counselors trained in the fields of mental health, drug misuse, and alcoholism, and administrative and support staff.
