As Orange County's first chemical dependency recovery hospital (CDRH), Laguna Treatment Hospital provides research-based clinical and support services for adults suffering with drug and/or alcohol addiction and for those with co-occurring mental health disorders. The hospital has the expertise to care for most patients, including those who are medically compromised and require 24/7 medical care, through its unique medical model for addiction treatment. With a staff of more than 70 addiction professionals, registered nurses, licensed marriage and family therapists, and a recreational therapist, Laguna Treatment Hospital specializes in medically monitored withdrawal management (detox) as well as inpatient rehabilitation. The hospital is also known for its therapeutic setting, ideal for helping patients get on the path to recovery.

Addiction is a complex physiological disease, and no two patients are exactly alike. At Laguna Treatment Hospital, we create an individually tailored treatment plan for each patient based upon factors such as the individual’s underlying medical conditions, co-occurring mental health disorders, history of trauma, and other factors. During your stay at Laguna Treatment Hospital, you’ll participate in a variety of evidence-based therapies in both individual and group settings. Our therapists utilize methods that are clinically proven to help people who suffer from addiction learn to resist substance use and choose sobriety. These evidence-based therapies include motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), alternative or holistic therapies such as yoga or meditation, and more. We also offer educational sessions to help prepare you for your life in recovery and solidify your commitment to sobriety.

Laguna Treatment Hospital strives to provide a therapeutic and restful environment for patients as they move through our continuum of care. Nursing stations are located on each residential floor and staffed 24/7. Our compassionate nurses continuously monitor patients throughout their stay, so patients and their families can feel at ease during the course of treatment.
To promote wellness and recovery, Laguna features everything from a pool and fitness center to hotel style rooms with large beds and upgraded linens. Our group rooms promote discussion and discovery, while private space and quiet time are set aside for meditation and self-reflection.

Leaving an inpatient rehab and entering a new life in recovery can feel scary, which is why Laguna’s caring therapists and case managers will be with you every step of the way. From enrolling you in an outpatient program that fits your unique needs to helping you transition into sober living housing, we help you prepare for the unstructured environment that awaits you outside Laguna Treatment Hospital. Staying connected to Laguna’s alumni network will help keep you motivated and engaged during your recovery. Weekly meetings and a full schedule of other events will ensure continued support and a network of like-minded people who can help keep you on track well after you leave our facility in Southern California.

Specializations

Aftercare Support

Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.

Individualized Treatment

Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.

Family Program

Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.

12-Step Involvement

The term “12-Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps. The first 3 steps are situational, the next 4 address the practical issues created by the addiction, and the next 2 steps focus on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.

“The stigma surrounding help-seeking for mental health problems hinders people from getting support. This stigma is even greater for those struggling with addiction….Providing quality, compassionate, and nonjudgmental care is key to revolutionizing the recovery experience for those who need treatment.” Marlon Rollins is a seasoned professional with more than 15 years of experience in behavioral healthcare, including operational management across clinical and non-clinical departments. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, as well as an M.A. in Counseling Psychology, and is a licensed mental health counselor and national certified counselor. Prior to joining Laguna Treatment Hospital, Rollins served as interim CEO and COO at a 148-bed hospital in the Bay Area and at a 171-bed facility in Sacramento, California, providing leadership and overseeing operations of the two largest free-standing psychiatric facilities in the state of California. ABOUT LAGUNA TREATMENT HOSPITAL

Laguna Treatment Hospital remains open and committed to providing critical addiction treatment during the Coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, Laguna Treatment Hospital is working with Addiction Labs of America to test all patients for COVID-19.

Owned and operated by American Addiction Centers (AAC) and located in sunny Southern California, Laguna Treatment Hospital offers residential treatment for adults with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. Aftercare planning services are also available.

The treatment center provides medically-monitored detox, which only about 15 percent of all treatment facilities in California offer, as of the year 2016. Laguna employs a medical supervision staff 24/7.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment at Laguna begins with a comprehensive psychiatric and medical evaluation to determine the appropriate level of care and create an individualized treatment plan. Each patient's length of stay varies depending upon each patient's unique needs, but a 90-day stay is often recommended as the most effective for attaining long-term sobriety.

Treatment combines 12-step methodology with evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). Patients participate in individual therapy, group and family counseling, wellness focused groups, and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings, as well as relapse prevention and skill-building groups.

Laguna Treatment Hospital also utilizes American Addiction Center’s unique recovery curriculum, Change: Recovery for Life, which focuses on the treatment of co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. The course includes a series of workbook exercises and interactive activities designed to encourage self-examination, teach effective recovery and aftercare coping strategies, and highlight the benefits of 12-step principles and fellowship.

Spouses, partners, children, and other family members are encouraged to become active in the treatment process by participating in periodic family therapy sessions.

When treatment is complete, individuals leave with a comprehensive aftercare plan put together by both themselves and the staff. Should they relapse, patients who successfully complete the 90-day program may return for an additional 30 days, free of charge.

Laguna Treatment Hospital's website notes the treatment team consists of over 70 addiction professionals, registered nurses, licensed marriage and family therapist counselors, and a recreational therapist.
