Life Help Region VI is a public, nonprofit agency that provides mental health and addiction treatment services in 12 counties in Mississippi. Founded in 1979, Denton House is the organization's substance abuse treatment center, providing residential and transitional programs, outpatient treatment, and aftercare for adult men and women. Like 88 percent of residential facilities in Mississippi, Denton House doesn't offer detox on-site, though Life Help does offer crisis stabilization services at other facilities in the network.

Primary treatment lasts 30 days, and transitional treatment, 60. On both treatment tracks, the program is multidisciplinary, drawing from the 12-Steps as well as unspecified evidence-based and holistic methods. And Denton House is one of just 47 percent of facilities in Mississippi that treat co-occurring mental health disorders — in the case of Denton House, via psychiatric interventions, psychotherapy, medication management, and other services that Life Help offers on its mental-health treatment tracks.

Each client is assigned an individual counselor who oversees their progress. Clients on the primary program will participate in 25 hours of activities a week, consisting primarily of individual, group, and family counseling, plus three support groups. Clients on the transitional program continue to attend some counseling, but also spend 20 hours a week working at the Leflore County Ability Works center, allowing them to build skills for community life in a safe environment.

Graduating clients are enrolled in Denton House’s comprehensive aftercare program, which provides weekly meetings and check-ins with an assigned aftercare counselor for up to 24 months.

Outpatient options consist of an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that meets for three hours, three times a week, for 15 weeks. Families are invited to attend weekly.

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff, but the two individuals polled by to date gave the facility a four-star rating and a five-star rating for its staff's level of training and experience, and one alum praised "the compassion and caring of the entire staff."

Both residential programs offer 44 beds total: 26 for men and eight for women in the primary program, and six for men and four for women in the transitional program. Men and women live in separate wings of the facility; however, they eat meals and attend treatment activities and 12-step meetings together. Families are encouraged to visit, but must attend a half-hour educational session each time.

The single alum polled by at the time of this writing gave very positive feedback, awarding Denton House perfect five-star ratings for most aspects of its treatment, including its treatment effectiveness, family participation, and ability to treat co-occurring disorders. "Once I completed the 28 day rehab. They allowed me to stay there until a bed came open at a halfway house. Without any extra charges," they wrote.

Denton House also has mostly positive feedback on secondary sites, with a four-star average rating based on six reviews on Google, as well as two five-star ratings on CiteHealth.[1] [2] The alumni repeatedly praised the center's staff: "The staff is very knowledgeable and eager to assist you with your every need," one reviewer wrote in a representative review on CiteHealth.

The single loved one surveyed by to date gave mostly positive feedback, painting a picture of a solid and affordable if slightly bare-bones program. They gave the center two stars for its holistic offerings, three stars for its counseling options and family participation, and four stars for its treatment effectiveness and ability to treat co-occurring disorders. "Overall it is alright," was their conclusion.

Life Help is one of around 46 percent of facilities in Mississippi that accepts Medicare, and one of around 61 percent that accepts Medicaid. The center also accepts private insurance. Life Help bases its fees on a sliding scale, and nobody is ever refused treatment because they're unable to pay, partly because, like around 65 percent of facilities in Mississippi, Life Help Region VI is partly funded by the state.
