Girls ages 12 to 17 struggling with chemical dependency may participate in Lincoln Trail’s Magnolias inpatient unit, which follows the Matrix Model. This approach uses positive reinforcement, education, activity therapy, and spiritual counseling, with an emphasis on relapse prevention preparation. Family therapy is also included, and residents attend school onsite.
The adult chemical dependency inpatient program follows a Living in Balance Model. Treatment incorporates 12-step facilitation and a form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Clients typically participate in a spirituality group, activity therapy, dietary counseling, and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings.
One of the highlights of Lincoln Trail’s services is Mission Wellness, its military/vet program. Clients can attend from across the country, in which just 10 percent of U.S. treatment facilities provide specialized military programming; the Kentucky average is 12 percent. In addition to closed AA meetings onsite for military members, the program involves CBT, SMART Recovery, mindfulness techniques, expressive art therapy, and trauma-oriented eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
This facility’s outpatient offerings include full-day partial hospitalization programming (PHP) and half-day intensive outpatient programming (IOP). Therapeutic methods include the Matrix Model, Living in Balance, and Seeking Safety.
The multidisciplinary treatment team at Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System includes board-certified addictionologists, psychiatrists, and certified alcohol and drug counselors (CADC). Some staff have military experience and some are in recovery, according to the facility’s website.
