ABOUT LINCOLN TRAIL BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SYSTEM

Located in Radcliff, Ky., home of the Fort Knox Army Base, Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System offers residential and outpatient treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The rehab center provides specialized programming for adults, adolescent girls, and veterans and military service members. Lincoln Trail is one of Kentucky’s 16 inpatient facilities (4.5 percent of 359 total rehabs) to provide detox services.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Assessments are available at Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System 24/7, according to the facility’s website. Some patients begin their treatment with medically supervised detoxification. This Kentucky rehab center is among the 26 percent of treatment facilities in the U.S. to offer specialized programming for adolescents.

Girls ages 12 to 17 struggling with chemical dependency may participate in Lincoln Trail’s Magnolias inpatient unit, which follows the Matrix Model. This approach uses positive reinforcement, education, activity therapy, and spiritual counseling, with an emphasis on relapse prevention preparation. Family therapy is also included, and residents attend school onsite.

The adult chemical dependency inpatient program follows a Living in Balance Model. Treatment incorporates 12-step facilitation and a form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Programming is group-based, although individual and group family therapy are also provided. Clients typically participate in a spirituality group, activity therapy, dietary counseling, and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings.

One of the highlights of Lincoln Trail’s services is Mission Wellness, its military/vet program. Clients can attend from across the country, in which just 10 percent of U.S. treatment facilities provide specialized military programming; the Kentucky average is 12 percent. In addition to closed AA meetings onsite for military members, the program involves CBT, SMART Recovery, mindfulness techniques, expressive art therapy, and trauma-oriented eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

This facility’s outpatient offerings include full-day partial hospitalization programming (PHP) and half-day intensive outpatient programming (IOP). Therapeutic methods include the Matrix Model, Living in Balance, and Seeking Safety.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The multidisciplinary treatment team at Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System includes board-certified addictionologists, psychiatrists, and certified alcohol and drug counselors (CADC). Some staff have military experience and some are in recovery, according to the facility’s website.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Strengths: Former addicts in recovery. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Weaknesses. Very little down time. This was a very informative place. I learned a lot about myself, and what it takes to stay sober. I like the way they taper the withdrawal medicine down, so it makes for a nice detox

Strengths: One on One counselling, group therapy, allows family involvement. Weaknesses: Not enough professionals on site, and need more aides. A family member was there. We were allowed to visit and participate in family groups and express our feelings about the situation.

Number 1 they care. They have friendly and understanding staff. They make you feel like a PERSON with a problem instead of a problem. Had a good experience. They did everything they could to help a family member. They also helped us outside the box to understand and gave us ideas on ways to help.

They are very disiplined with the patients but also fair as well. They were always kind, & understanding. I think they should allow family more than once a week visiting.

was admitted here my sophmore year in high school. Im now a senior i still cant even put into words how terrible this place is. They treat you normally at first then the turn for NO reason at all treating you like garbage. Although their where a few staff members that at least tried to pretend to care about you. And very few that actually cared.
