ABOUT LOWER EASTSIDE SERVICE CENTER - SU CASA METHADONE-TO-ABSTINENCE RESIDENCE
Founded in 1959, Lower Eastside Service Center (LESC) provides treatment to adult men and women in New York City who struggle with substance abuse issues and co-occurring disorders. The Manhattan program, Su Casa Methadone-to-Abstinence Residence (MTAR), opened in 1974 and offers outpatient treatment, long term residential treatment, and medical detox to individuals of at least 18 years old who are struggling with an opioid dependency.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Most clients gain admittance to the facility by referral. All clients undergo an initial assessment to determine the appropriate care track.
Treatment is based off the therapeutic community model and relies heavily on staff-to-client interaction. Individuals partake in both individual and group therapy. Topics of education include education, job training, legal issues, social skills, housing, and money management. There is also counseling for couples and families.
Additionally, clients can engage in holistic treatments including exercise classes such as Kung Fu and Thai Chi. The facility also allows family visits, entertainment and culture events, talent shows, and poetry readings.
Residential treatment is the most intensive forms of care offered by LESC, and length of stay is typically 12 to 18 months. Outpatient services and permanent housing for low-income individuals can also be accessed.
Staff includes physicians, nurses, counselors, and a program director. The sole review submitted to Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the staff's level of training and experience a perfect five-star review.
