ABOUT MCKINLEY HALL

Located in Springfield, Ohio, 30 minutes northeast of Dayton, McKinley Hall provides residential and outpatient treatment to adults struggling with substance use disorder. The facility also provides ambulatory detox, which is available in just 12 percent of outpatient treatment facilities in Ohio. In addition, McKinley Hall is among the 35.7 percent of facilities in the state to offer treatment services to criminal justice clients.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment at McKinley Hall begins with an initial assessment to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. The 30-day residential program is for men only and includes group counseling, 12-step meetings, and sober living skills groups.

Outpatient options are available for both men and women and include an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which includes nine hours of treatment a week, and a standard outpatient program (OP), which is less intensive.

The facility aslo offers a four-week chemical dependency education program, as well as a family drug court program and a program for domestic violence intervention. McKinley Hall is among the 15.6 percent of treatment facilities in Ohio to offer services to clients who have experienced domestic violence. Vocational services are also available.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

McKinley Hall's treatment team include nurses experienced in addiction medicine, licensed substance abuse counselors, clinical therapists, and case managers.

McKinley Hall residential treatment program can accommodate up to 12 men. According to the facility's website, the residential program offers a "safe and structured environment." To date, the six loved ones polled by Rehabs.com generally approved of the facility's upkeep.

Former clients who left feedback praised the facility for its compassionate staff and effective treatment. "Great place and has changed my live in every way keep it up. Would recommend makenley hall to anybody that is suffering from the disease of addiction," Adam wrote in a representative review.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Of the six former clients polled by Rehabs.com to date, two offered negative feedback and four offered mixed reviews. Common complaints included few holistic activities and a lack of education among staff. "Absolutely no clue when it comes to co-occurring mental health issues. Staff need to be dually trained or they need a mental health professional on staff," one of the loved ones wrote in a representative review.

The mixed reviewers who expressed positive feedback noted that the program was inexpensive and provided helpful access to recovery meetings. However, the loved ones generally approved of the facility's level of family participation.

    Cheap but not long enough to help, dont work on problems. Workers need to be more educated.

    Help in attending but ineffective. Daughter has been there for outpatient treatment and is currently in jail. Did not see any changes as a result of treatment.

    Strengths: Helping the people that do want help. Weaknesses: Not making them stay. Letting them go home whenever. A patient should have to stay until they're finished with the program regardless if they want to quit half way through or not.
