Established in 1972, MFI Recovery Center is a nonprofit organization that provides a full continuum of treatment services for adults and women with children, as well as adolescents, which are treated by 21.3 percent of California treatment centers.

Treatment is available for individuals who are struggling with chemical dependency, psychiatric disorders, and co-occurring disorders.

One of nine facilities operated by the organization, MFI Recovery Center’s La Vista Recovery and Wellness Center provides a gender-specific, residential treatment program for women, making it part of the nearly 56 percent of California treatment centers to offer specialized services for adult women. Located in San Jacinto, Calif., the facility does not provide detoxification services on-site.

According to MFI Recovery Center's website, upon admission, clients participate in an initial assessment, which is used to create a personalized treatment plan. To treat its clients, La Vista Recovery and Wellness Center utilizes the Matrix Model as well as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and 12-step facilitation.

During treatment, clients participate in a structured schedule of individual, group, and family counseling sessions designed to help clients identify underlying factors that may contribute to addictive behavior.

As a gender-specific program, counseling sessions focus on issues common among women struggling with substance abuse. The trauma-focused treatment may address issues of physical or sexual abuse, PTSD, low self-esteem, depression, and an inability to cope with stress. The Matrix Model typically also incorporates educational workshops on relapse prevention techniques.

In addition to counseling sessions and educational classes, the facility also incorporates the principles and practices of the 12-step model of recovery into treatment. Clients may attend on-site and off-site 12-step meetings, study fellowship literature, and complete coursework to guide clients in their “step-work.” Individuals with co-occurring disorders may also receive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management.

To help clients transition back into the community, clinicians may coordinate with clients to create comprehensive discharge plans. These plans may include referrals to sober housing, community-based resources, outpatient programs, and other linkages that provide aftercare support.

MFI Recovery Center’s website notes its residential programs are facilitated by a team of psychiatrists, clinical therapists, licensed substance abuse counselors, and support staff.

MFI Recovery Center's website indicates the facility is set on a hilltop with views of Mount San Jacinto. La Vista Recovery and Wellness Center is a repurposed, historic farmhouse. MFI Recovery Center, and for family participation.

I was a client from Nov. 2018 to March 2019 at LaVista and I have to say that while it was my first time in treatment so I can’t compare them to any other facility. However the staff and the program are amazing. The staff made me feel very welcome and very easy to talk to. The structure is awesome, the facility is very warm and clean. They give hope for anyone who is truly seeking a life of sobriety. I recommend this facility to any and everyone seriously ready to start a new life, a new journey. I owe my life to the LaVista staff.

This facilities communication with the Clients can be reached in many ways. Each facilitator has there own unique ways of reaching any client. Which in return complements each other's professionalism. We all have weaknesses but due to confidentiality we work issues within the facilitator when needed. I've only experienced working here at LA Vista. With saying that, our Cts. Who have came here have had CPS cases, completely lost there children besides there own life, relationship with family members, also some have came off the streets or even prison. Our Cts. Restore there relationship, regain custody of children, learned how to become responsible. By having the right referrals our Cts are able to find the proper sober living or out patient in order to carry out the sobriety. We have Graduations once a year and many Cts from our different facilities and the one of the company attends also. The staff at LA Vista works hard to make sure the experience will be life changing.
