Miami County Recovery Council (MCRC) provides integrated mental health and substance use disorder treatment on an outpatient basis in Troy, Ohio. Services at the non-profit agency include medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and drug court programs to meet clients’ legal obligations. Only 3.4 percent of Ohio’s treatment facilities offer residential detox, a relatively new program MCRC also operates called Hope House.


Clients can begin the treatment process at Miami County Recovery Council through walk-in assessments offered on Friday mornings. At the time of this writing, according to the facility’s official Facebook page, a spot at Hope House for a seven- to 10-day medically-assisted detox process is typically available within a day or two. Detox services focus on opioid addiction and utilize Vivitrol injections.

A continuum of available outpatient programming covers specialized and general assessments, education, prevention activities, individual and group counseling, case management, specialized adolescent and women’s services, and referrals to other social agencies. MCRC also hosts family support meetings and participates in employee assistance programs, with an emphasis on prevention.

Addiction treatment at MCRC is 12-Step- and strengths-based. Listed on the website are staff areas of specialization or training, which include Gestalt methods and recreational therapy. Dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring psychiatric conditions is also available.


The executive director at Miami County Recovery Council has been in recovery for three decades and is a former client of the agency, according to the facility’s website. Treatment team members include a psychiatrist, general practitioner M.D., psychiatric nurses, master’s-level counselors and social workers, certified prevention specialists, and licensed independent chemical dependency counselors (LICDC).

The agency also employs a Substance Abuse Professional certified by the federal Department of Transportation (DOT). Some staff members are U.S. military veterans.

However, reviews submitted to Miami County Recovery Council’s official Facebook page (which its staff may monitor) reveal overwhelmingly positive opinions. Criticisms focused on disorganization and long waits for service.

Positive comments highlighted the staff’s professionalism and the life-changing and -saving effects of treatment. At the time of this writing, eight individuals had submitted maximum five-star ratings, and two gave just one star apiece.[1]


Miami County Recovery Council receives state, county, and United Way funds. All services are provided on a sliding fee scale.
