Rehabs.com 360 Guide
Located in the seaside resort of Laguna Beach, Calif., Miramar Treatment Center aims to provide high-end treatment for men and women struggling with addiction to drugs and/or alcohol, as well as being one of the 720 (54.9 percent) centers in the state with a track for co-occurring disorders. The facility offers residential and outpatient treatment. Additionally, this is one of the only 197 (15 percent) treatment centers with on-site medical detox in California, plus intervention services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Miramar aims to treat the “whole person” on every level — physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual — by targeting unresolved issues, deficiencies, imbalances, and other pathologies that clients may be struggling with.
Residential treatment begins with comprehensive medical, psychiatric, and biopsychosocial evaluations, followed by detox if necessary. These evaluations are used to assemble a personalized treatment plan that’s updated by a case manager during the course of treatment.
Treatment combines two to three individual therapy sessions a week with two small group sessions a day, and weekly family/couples therapy. Clients are also introduced to 12-step and Smart Recovery principles. The program is rounded-out by holistic options such as acupuncture, massage, yoga, meditation, and outings including trips to the gym and beach, plus hiking, biking, and sailing.
Outpatient programming is flexible, running Monday to Saturday for up to six hours a day, in the daytime or the evening. Outpatient care includes psychiatric services, medication management, individual, group, and family therapy, gender-separate modules, and participation in 12-step and SMART Recovery groups. This center offers one of the just 829 (63.2 percent) outpatient groups in the state.
All clients leave with a comprehensive aftercare plan, which they put together with the help of their case manager during the course of treatment.
According to the facility’s website, the treatment team includes a physician who specializes in addiction, an addiction psychiatrist, two psychologists, a nurse, marriage and family therapists, and certified addiction counselors. Holistic therapies are provided by a masseuse, a dietitian, and an acupuncturist/herbalist.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
According to the facility’s website, clients sleep in three gender-separate residences in Laguna Beach and nearby Newport Beach, with a maximum of six clients per residency. Some of the facilities have terraces, gardens, and/or ocean views. For outpatient clients, transportation to and from the facility is provided.
