ABOUT MOUNT ROGERS COMMUNITY SERVICES BOARD — COMMUNITY COUNSELING CENTERS
Mount Rogers Community Services Board (CSB) is a Virginia-based organization that provides a broad range of community services for individuals with mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as substance use disorders. Services are offered to individuals in Smyth, Wythe, Bland, Carroll, and Grayson counties.
Counseling services for mental health and substance misuse concerns are offered at four community counseling centers located in Galax, Marion, Wytheville, and Independence. All counseling is offered in an outpatient setting.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
After being referred to one of the centers, each client is assessed to determine the most appropriate course of treatment. Counseling services are offered in individual, group, family, and couples settings, and case management is also provided. The center in Wytheville offers priority treatment for pregnant women.
Crisis intervention and stabilization, mental illness and substance misuse education, psychiatric and nursing consultations, and medication assessments and management are also available. Additionally, the centers offer dedicated services for addiction to opioids, prescription drugs, and IV drugs.
According to the CSB’s organizational chart, the centers employ nurses, program coordinators, psychiatrists, therapists, clinicians, and other behavioral health professionals. Both individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the center five out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The two alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date both gave positive reviews and would strongly recommend treatment at the community counseling centers. Both anonymous reviewers praised the staff as well as the effectiveness of treatment, in particular. They both also offered perfect five-star ratings for the facility's counseling options, amount of family participation, and ability to address co-occurring disorders.
"The counselors really cared and worked with us on a group and individual basis to ensure successful completion of the program as well as maintenance upon release," wrote one alum in a representative review.
On Google, three alumni who reviewed the center in Galax gave unanimously positive feedback, offering a four-star rating and two perfect five-star ratings. Reviewers tended to agree with those surveyed by Rehabs.com regarding the centers' staff.
WHAT STAFF SAY
Though Rehabs.com has not received any reviews from staff as of this date, commentary relevant to client experience on secondary review sites from current and former employees was mostly positive.
Offering an average rating of 3.5 out of five stars, most of the six reviewers on Indeed praised their fellow staff members' abilities and quality of care provided to clients. "The staff of the CSB represent a diverse demographic and have many interests' outside of their work roles," wrote one anonymous former employee, a counselor from the Wytheville location.  "This enriches the lives of staff and clients as they bring their talents into the workplace, such as their music and other entertainment. Staff work together to see that client and agency goals are met."
On Glassdoor, another anonymous former staff member, a case manager, wrote that "employees have the opportunity to make a difference in individuals lives."
According to the CSB's website, the centers accept Medicaid, Medicare, and all private health insurers. Fees are determined on a sliding scale that is based on household size and income. Both individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date the affordability five out of five stars.
