The Multicultural Wellness Center (MWC) is a nonprofit mental-health clinic with two offices in central Massachusetts: one in Fitchburg, plus this center in Worcester. The centers are designed to provide mental health treatment to diverse communities that have traditional not been adequately served. Services are available in both English and Spanish.

Alongside a range of outpatient, community-based, and in-home therapies for various mental and behavioral health disorders, MWC provides dedicated outpatient services for problematic substance use and dual diagnosis.

MWC aims to create change by using each client's strengths, and by empowering clients and families and embracing their cultural differences.

Treatment for substance use disorder consists of individual and group counseling with a focus on uncovering and treating the underlying causes of addiction. Any co-occurring disorders are treated in an integrated fashion, alongside the substance use disorder. For those clients who require them, medication management services directed by a physician are available; MWC does not at present specify which medications it typically prescribes. MWC's website also notes that the program for problematic substance use pays particular attention to the related matters of domestic violence and family stabilization.

Group therapy covers topics such as relapse prevention, life skills, and coping skills; there are also educational sessions involving discussions and screenings of informative films.

In addition to services for problematic substance use, MWC provides counseling and treatments for a diverse range of disorders and difficulties, including domestic violence, racial identity, stress, and HIV/AIDS.

The team includes board-certified psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, social workers, licensed mental health counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, and certified rehabilitation counselors, among other professionals.

REVIEWS has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, affiliated friends or family members, or staff, however, secondary sites yielded a single review from an alum, and it was negative: "They will write you a script after you have jumped through hoops and they think your up to par... Just overall Horrible," R.H. wrote in a one-star rating on Google, adding criticism of the facility's allegedly rude receptionist. [1]

Secondary sites also yielded some reviews from staff. This feedback was mixed: at the time of this writing, MWC had an average rating of three stars based on eight reviews on Indeed, and on Glassdoor, a one-star, a two-star, and a three-star rating. [2] [3] The reviews repeatedly praised the organization's mission: "Committed to working with children and families," one reviewer wrote on, and on Glassdoor, another added: "Pros: focused on the underclass and blacks." However, the reviews also repeatedly cited poor management, resulting in low company morale. "Lack of organization management is all over the place . no recognition to the employee," one reviewer wrote in a representative review on Indeed.

MWC accepts TriCare and MassHealth along with a range of commercial insurance providers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield and United. Clients may also pay for their own treatment.
