New Horizon Recovery Philosophy

Located in Encinitas, California, New Horizon Recovery provides every client with an individualized clinical care treatment plan and a warm and comforting environment conducive to achieving long term recovery from substance and alcohol abuse. New Horizon implements a personalized clinical treatment plan for each client, combining traditional and alternative treatment methodologies. New Horizon’s Masters-level staff focuses on dual-diagnosis treatments. New Horizon offers programs of 30, 60 and 90 days, dependent on patient needs. New Horizon’s program is court approved for DUI compliance.

Areas of Specialization

  • Detox
Though not all rehab facilities offer “medical detoxification,” all people with an addiction to drugs or alcohol will experience intense physical and emotional changes and discomfort as their bodies react to withdrawal of the addictive substance. Many people use the term “detox” to refer to the period of time (ranging from a few days to a week) when the body is reacting to an addict’s decision to stop using.

  • Family Program
Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.

NHR’s residential rehab center serves clients in an peaceful atmosphere located near the beach in Southern California’s Encinitas. The facility is approved to provide court-ordered treatment and clients are of diverse ages.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the facility's website, during New Horizon Recovery's intake and evaluation process, an addiction physician meets with each client to determine any medication requirements for those who have received a dual diagnosis.

A therapist collaborates with each client to create a personalized treatment plan. In the first week at New Horizon Recovery, withdrawal support is offered with an emphasis on nutrition, relaxation, and physical exercise to begin the rehabilitation process.

The facility operates as a “social model” community, which prioritizes peer support, self-empowerment, and learning through experience. Clients receive initial treatment during a 30-day residential stay. After withdrawal, the next phase of treatment focuses on psychological therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy and positive psychology. Marriage and family counseling, hypnotherapy, and weekly group outings for nearby activities are also available.

Clients are then advised about potential needs for continued treatment for up to 90 days as residents, while some transition to an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

At this stage, clients may connect and participate with life coaches, sober mentors, and vocational counselors as they continue integrate therapies to strengthen their minds and bodies. There are multiple traditional and experiential therapies scheduled six days a week, including group and individual counseling, medication management, community 12-step programs, and yoga. The IOP is also available to clients as a beginning stage of rehab.

New Horizon Recovery also offers a family program featuring therapy and education, and a longer-term sober living program.

All of the negative reviews on this site are probably the valid reviews. All of the positive ones were probably written by the owner or her daughter. The owner is only in this for the money and does not care about the clients at all. She picks favorites and allows people to use drugs on site. The staff are rude and their website is full of lies. They are not qualified to detox anyone. Who has ever heard of cable TV at rehab? Also, she has ripped off many people and New Horizons was on the TV show "The Turko Files for ripping people off" Beware!!!

Counseling Job Placement Help with Financial Aid/School Sober Environment were all great. Some bad things: Boring people While I was here I was well taken care of. The counselors here show a sense of really caring for one's well being and I could genuinely feel it. Everyone here truly cares about you and will tend to your needs.

This facility has no structure and lacks a treatment program.

Excellent rehab. I got so much out of the therapy sessions. After I was in the inpatient program I continued with out patient and lived at New Horizons sober housing which is just a short walk so it was easy to continue with therapy. The other residents were interesting. It was a good mix of people, age and addictions. Everyone was nice and there was a lot of support. And the dinners were AWSOME. I plan on staying in touch. Thanks New Horizon

They are extremely unprofessional. They do not communicate communicate with their clients on a timely manner will have any courtesy or respect whatsoever. The staff do as they pleased when they have one simple job of providing meals rides two appointments and such. And drug testing. And none of which get accomplished unless they have some sort of personal vindictive attitude or doubt in one's treatment. The staff are extremely disrespectful and favorite certain residence. I would not ever recommend this treatment facility to anyone.

New Horizon Recovery is appropriately named. Because of them, their staff, style & immaculate professionalism, I truly have a whole new horizon & lease on life. I am a recalcitrant relapser who has been counseled that I have a particularly malignant, treatment resistant case of addiction who was near death, my friends and family had given up on me, unemployable and now, a short six months later, I am excited about my recovery and the bountiful opportunity life holds in store for me and have New Horizon to thank for this shift in my whole attitude and outlook on life. I you're reading this, stop right here and call them to get admitted. It will be the best move, most significant call you will ever make. Promise!

This place is great! I spent several months at NHR and finally got my life back! This place is everything they say they are and so much more. The house is beautiful and clean. The staff helps you with all your needs and actually cares about you. The house supervisor makes amazing dinners every night and has so much knowledge in addiction. They provide group and individual sessions with caring professional counselors six days a week. They have an amazing yoga instructor come a couple times a week. We went to great self help meetings almost every night where I met my sponsor that I still have today. Anyone who says anything bad about this place is nuts and most likely didn't want to be sober or make positive changes to better themselves. If you need help go here. It truly was an amazing experience and I am in such a wonderful place in life thanks to NHR.
