ABOUT NEWPORT HOSPITAL - PSYCHIATRY AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

A part of the Lifespan healthcare system, Newport Hospital runs both inpatient and partial hospitalization (PHP) programs under its psychiatry and behavioral health department. In addition to treating substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, the facility addresses a wide range of mental health issues, including eating disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, and others. It is one of four hospital inpatient programs in the state.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon intake, all clients receive a comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluation so that the clinical team can create an individualized treatment plan. Clients who are either in crisis or require treatment for severe disorders may be referred to the hospital’s inpatient unit, where they’ll receive the close care from a multidisciplinary team of medical specialists.

For those who do not require inpatient care but could still benefit from a high level of structure, the hospital may recommend up to two weeks of PHP-level care. PHP participants attend groups for six hours a day, five days a week. While treatment is mostly oriented around group-therapy, clients may also receive one-on-one counseling, medication management, art therapy, and life skills training.

The treatment team at Newport Hospital includes board-certified psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, social workers, and recreational therapists.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The hospital’s inpatient unit can accommodate as many as 15 patients at a time. Those enrolled in the PHP may use the cafeteria for meals and snacks and can take advantage of free on-site parking.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

In the single Rehabs.com survey response to date, an anonymous individual provided a mostly positive review on their extended family member’s short-term treatment experience. The reviewer submitted ratings of mostly four out of five stars across 15 different evaluated metrics, including the program’s treatment effectiveness, its counseling options, leisure options, level of cleanliness, and family involvement. “Good treatment at a great facility,” they wrote.

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, some private insurance plans are accepted, and financial assistance is available to clients who qualify.
