ABOUT NORTHEAST TREATMENT CENTERS (NET) - KIRKWOOD RECOVERY CENTER

NorthEast Treatment Centers (NET) is a nonprofit behavioral health care organization that offers a continuum of treatment programs for residents of Greater Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, and Delaware. One of more than a dozen facilities operated by NET (including a counseling center and a behavioral health unit for children), the Kirkwood Recovery Center in Wilmington provides inpatient detoxification services to adults struggling with chemical dependency. It's the only non-hospital inpatient facility in the state to provide medical detox.

Kirkwood Recovery Center also offers outpatient programs, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for clients battling opioid use disorder. In 2017, 5,390 individuals were receiving MAT in Delaware, making up about 1.3 percent of individuals receiving MAT at a national level.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Kirkwood Recovery Center accepts clients 24/7 by referral or walk-in. During detox, clients are medically monitored around the clock. They're also introduced to the 12-step model of recovery, and provided with individual and group counseling, life skills training, and substance abuse education.

Post detox, clients may opt to enroll in one of Kirkwood's intensive outpatient programs (IOP). Specialized tracks are available for women and for clients with co-occurring disorders. Kirkwood is also one of just five substance abuse treatment facilities in Delaware (15 percent of all treatment facilities in the state) to provide a specialized program tailored to teens.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

In addition to peer specialists, Kirkwood Recovery Center employs physicians and nurses, case managers, and substance abuse counselors. The one alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility three out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. However, the sole alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave Kirkwood Recovery Center four out of five stars for its cleanliness and upkeep. By contrast, policies regarding outside communication, and exercise and leisure activities, received just one star apiece. The alum reported that few downtime activities were offered.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The one former client surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, an anonymous 18-to-25-year-old female, gave Kirkwood Recovery Center mixed to negative feedback. She awarded the facility just one out of five stars for its counseling options, its family participation, its connectivity, and its holistic offerings, and two stars for its administrative and discharge procedures. "This facility makes it hard to be rehabilitated because they treat every client the same," the alum noted. When asked, on a scale from one to five, if she would recommend the facility, the alum gave a rating of three.

On Google[1], Kirkwood Recovery Center earned an average rating of 4.1 out of five stars based on 14 reviews. Of the nine former clients who left comments, six provided positive feedback, including Rebecca who wrote: "Vary welcoming happy people and understanding enjoyed the respect they shown me." The three unsatisfied alumni complained about rude staff and bad food.

They are clean. They are limited to what sort of treatment you get. Everyone gets the same treatment. This facility makes it hard to be rehabilitated because they treat every client the same. They also don't have a lot of downtime activities at all, so clients tend to get bored easily, which is never good when they are trying to get clean.
