Treatment Center Setting
Oasis Recovery Philosophy
Oasis Recovery was created out of a vision of hope, and a desire to provide a safe and compassionate space for addicts and alcoholics to recover. It was inspired from personal experience with the damage and destruction of addiction, and the evolution of healing that came out of that experience.
The idea, of this safe haven, evolved into a full program based on mindfulness and individualized treatment, along with a full spectrum of other beneficial components. As this idea and vision grew, so did the connections with skilled, leading edge collaborators who believed in this vision of a new heart-centered integrated model of treatment.
With a group of experienced contributors, dedicated to the community that has emerged out of Oasis’s program of recovery, the vision has become a real manifested oasis of heartfelt connection, inspired healing, and successful recovery.
Areas of Specialization
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.
Process Abuse Treatment
Not all addictions involve mood-altering chemicals. The term “process addiction” describes the unhealthy use of behaviors (including eating, gambling, sexual activity, shopping, internet use, etc.) that has spiraled out of control and into the realm of addiction.
This term describes one-on-one therapy, in which a patient and trained counselor, social worker, psychologist or psychiatrist meets privately with a patient to discuss challenges related to lifestyle, work, family and romantic relationships that may have contributed to the development of an addiction.

Mark "Zim" Stewart--MA, LCAS
Zim (pronounced Zeem), has been a front-line clinician for over 30 years. He grew up in California, but considers Asheville home and has lived here for 30+ years. Zim has a Masters degree in Counseling from Western Carolina University, is a certified family therapist, and is a licensed clinical addiction specialist. He also has a background as a professional musician and comedic actor, which comes in handy working in the mental health field. Zim believes everyone is in recovery from something, and that addiction is a reflection of our society that is very much out of balance. Balance, mindfulness, loving kindness, humor, and education are sources of skillful means to help people in recovery lead more fulfilling lives, and do the healing that engenders a return to healthy living. Zim believes that therapy, recovery, and community should be based on healthy, emotionally intelligent, collaborative relationships. Everyone has gifts to offer, and people feel their best when they create lives in which they can give their gifts fully. We are excited to be building relationships with Asheville's thriving recovery community, and look forward to being of service toward taking the game to a whole new level!
