Nestled in a mountain town known for its ski resorts and sports fishing, the Alcohol and Chemical Treatment Center (ACT) at Ogden Regional Medical Center is one of the oldest alcohol and chemical dependency treatment programs in Utah. Founded in 1973, the facility offers residential and outpatient treatment to adults struggling with substance use disorder. The facility is also one of only five hospital-based treatment programs in Utah (just two percent of all facilities in the state) to provide medical detox.

Clients are accessed upon admission in order to be provided with the proper level of care. Treatment is evidence-based and included modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and traditional 12-step methodology.

In addition to detox, the facility offers inpatient treatment (which can last up to 30 days) and a residential program (which can last between 30 and 90 days). Both programs include group therapy, family education, and relapse prevention workshops.

Outpatient options include a 28-day partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an eight-week intensive outpatient program (IOP). A weekly continuing care program is offered to all graduates for up to two years.

According to the facility's website, the treatment center encourages family members to participate in the treatment process.

The center's website indicates the treatment team includes physicians, nurses, and addiction specialists. The five individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date indicated that staff were well-trained and knowledgeable.

Staff's level of training and experience: 4.2/5 stars

Other than the fact that the Ogden Regional Medical Center as a whole has 239 beds, there is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings at the ACT Center. To date, the four people surveyed by Rehabs.com gave the hospital's general maintenance high ratings.

Facility cleanliness and upkeep: 4.4/5 stars

The three alumni polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave ACT mixed feedback. Dan and Ken reported finding success in the program and gave the facility four or five out of five stars for its holistic offerings, its extracurricular activities, its level of safety, and the frequency and consistency of its group therapy meetings. Both alumni did note, however, that the program needed to improve its level of one-on-one counseling. Ad the third alum, C.M., complained that group therapy time was not properly utilized.

On Google[1], the hospital as a whole received an average rating of 3.3 out of five stars based on 118 reviews. And on its Facebook page[2], which the facility has the ability to edit, the medical center earned an average rating of 4.1 out of five stars based on 512 reviews. There were no comments were specific to the ACT program on either site.

The two loved ones polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the facility positive feedback.

They gave four and five out of five stars across the 15 different evaluated metrics, including treatment effectiveness, counseling options, family participation, connectivity, administrative and discharge procedures, and treatment of co-occurring disorders. "This facility and its staff are dedicated to providing the best care possible," wrote one loved one in a representative review.

The only complaint from both participants was the facility could use some renovations.

According to the facility’s website, Ogden Regional Medical Center accepts most private insurance plans, as well as Medicare and Medicaid. Amongst all Utah facilities, Ogden Regional Medical Center is among the the only 34 percent to accepted Medicare, and among the 48 percent to accepted Medicaid.
