Peak Behavioral Health is a behavioral health hospital located directly on the border between New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico, in the northwestern outskirts of El Paso. The hospital offers medical detox and a variety of inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors struggling with various mental and behavioral health disorders, including problematic substance use.

The hospital offers dedicated treatment services for veterans and active service members.

Treatment begins with a free assessment.

Acute-care inpatient services are provided for individuals of all ages who require immediate stabilization. During their brief stay at the hospital, individuals receiving acute care will receive participate in individual, group, and family therapy, recreational therapy, and discharge planning, which begins on the day of intake. Where necessary, acute-care clients also receive medication management and education services, and detoxing individuals also participate in relapse-prevention sessions.

The center also offers less intensive residential services for adolescent boys and girls aged 12 to 17 who are struggling with emotional and/or behavioral issues, including substance use disorder, that exhibit themselves frequently and disruptively. The program is trauma-informed, and uses modalities including gender-specific programming, substance use education, and psychoeducation. Residents also participate in schooling.

There are partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) for both adults and adolescents, which use similar treatment modalities to residential treatment, at staggered intensities. The adolescent IOP allows clients to keep attending school during treatment.

Upon discharge, all clients are matched with a mental-health provider in their community, with whom they meet for a follow-up appointment.

While there were exceptions I often was made to feel that I was a bother to them," S.D. wrote in a representative review on Google; "Worst place I've ever been I now had to visit a hospital because. Of there care," J.Z. added on the same site.

However, a handful of former clients noted that they had received professional and helpful treatment at the facility. "I actually had a really good experience. I was having multiple behavioral health issues. The staff was courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful," one reviewer wrote on Google under a pseudonym.

Great staff. Specific policies on dealing with patients. I believe that the staff and other patients helped a lot.
