ABOUT QUALITY ADDICTION MANAGEMENT (QAM) – MADISON

One of seven facilities in Wisconsin, Quality Addiction Management (QAM) of Madison provides methadone maintenance treatment and counseling services to individuals struggling with opiate dependency. Other locations include a facility in Green Bay and Racine. Medically supervised detox is not available, but many clients can detox from opiates using methadone.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to Quality Addiction Management's website, before beginning the methadone maintenance program, clients first participate in a substance abuse history and psychosocial assessment, as well as a physical examination. Clinicians develop an appropriate methadone regimen based on the individualized evaluation.

During the program, clients take a daily dose of methadone, which is administered orally. QAM also facilitates counseling services to address the underlying causes of addiction. Through clinician-led group and individual counseling sessions, clients may learn coping techniques, methods for trigger avoidance, and how to regulate emotions. Clients also undergo an annual physical examination.

While there is no specific timeline for the program, methadone maintenance is generally a long-term commitment, lasting from a few months to years. Throughout treatment, QAM continually reviews and modifies treatment plans, and over time, the facility may reduce dosage levels to help taper client off from the methadone regimen.

To promote personal accountability, clients are also subject to regular drug screenings during treatment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Quality Addiction Management's website notes the center is accredited and regulated by state and federal agencies. Quality Addiction Management’s facilities are led by physicians and clinicians with experience in the field of substance abuse.

The three alumni surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave three-, four-, and five-, out of five stars respectively for the staff's level of training and experience.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

To date, Rehabs.com has received three reviews from alumni. Alumni gave mostly high ratings for the program. All alumni gave perfect five-star ratings for treatment effectiveness.

All three alumni also gave four or five stars when asked if they would recommend Quality Addiction Management. However, two alumni gave one or two stars for the facility's ability to treat co-occurring disorders.

“The staff was a strength but location was a weakness. it changed my life,” alum Patrick wrote.

One alum gave slightly lower ratings overall: only two stars for the program’s counseling options. “When they first opened they were very patient orientated. that no longer true, many weakness that they need to work on,” he wrote.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Feedback posted to secondary sources were negative. On CiteHealth, an alum and loved one each provided mere one out of five star ratings. The reviewers both noted their dissatisfaction with the program, the staff members, and the effectiveness of methadone in general.

“This place doesn’t provide treatment,” one wrote. “They substituted methadone for heroin. Their clients are now addicted to the methadone, and like any other parasitic drug dealer they sit back and collect their money. They don’t care about the people they are ‘treating’ or their families that are also suffering.”

One anonymous reviewer agreed. “All they want is your money they don’t care about the patient,” they wrote.

FINANCING

No information is available concerning the specific cost of treatment, though QAM’s website describes the program as “low cost.” Medicaid and T-19 are accepted.
