ABOUT RALPH PERDUE CENTER
Managed by Fairbanks Native Association (FNA), a nonprofit community services agency in northern Alaska, the Ralph Perdue Center is a substance abuse treatment facility that serves Alaska Native and American Indian adult men and women, as well as a minority who do not identify as native. The rehab center provides residential and outpatient treatment programming, including detoxification services at the connected Gateway to Recovery facility. Integrated treatment is available for individuals struggling with co-occurring substance use and other mental health disorders.
The facility coordinates with the justice system as needed for individual clients. FNA offers additional behavioral health and addiction rehab services at its Women and Children's Center for Inner Healing and Graf Rheeneerhaanjii for adolescent care in Fairbanks.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Access to treatment at Ralph Perdue Center can begin with an online pre-assessment tool. Residential treatment typically lasts 45 days, and outpatient treatment for eight weeks. The center's website emphasizes a non-judgmental environment and a holistic, wraparound approach to client care. This incorporates case management and participation in other Fairbanks Native Association events and services.
Residents participate in up to 20 hours of weekly programming, which includes evidence-based individual psychotherapy sessions, process groups, family counseling, and education. Groups and educational sessions focus on such topics as anger management, trauma healing, self-acceptance, and spirituality. Therapeutic practices are culturally responsive.
Outpatient treatment is offered at standard and intensive levels, and may be used as an initial rehabilitative step or as means of continuing care after inpatient treatment.
According to Ralph Perdue Center's website, the facility's treatment team includes psychiatric staff, certified chemical dependency counselors, and residential aides trained in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed therapies, and cognitive behavioral therapy. All are expected to have positive experience working with Alaska Native populations.
