ABOUT RALPH PERDUE CENTER

Managed by Fairbanks Native Association (FNA), a nonprofit community services agency in northern Alaska, the Ralph Perdue Center is a substance abuse treatment facility that serves Alaska Native and American Indian adult men and women, as well as a minority who do not identify as native. The rehab center provides residential and outpatient treatment programming, including detoxification services at the connected Gateway to Recovery facility. Integrated treatment is available for individuals struggling with co-occurring substance use and other mental health disorders.

The facility coordinates with the justice system as needed for individual clients. FNA offers additional behavioral health and addiction rehab services at its Women and Children's Center for Inner Healing and Graf Rheeneerhaanjii for adolescent care in Fairbanks.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Access to treatment at Ralph Perdue Center can begin with an online pre-assessment tool. Residential treatment typically lasts 45 days, and outpatient treatment for eight weeks. The center's website emphasizes a non-judgmental environment and a holistic, wraparound approach to client care. This incorporates case management and participation in other Fairbanks Native Association events and services.

Residents participate in up to 20 hours of weekly programming, which includes evidence-based individual psychotherapy sessions, process groups, family counseling, and education. Groups and educational sessions focus on such topics as anger management, trauma healing, self-acceptance, and spirituality. Therapeutic practices are culturally responsive.

Outpatient treatment is offered at standard and intensive levels, and may be used as an initial rehabilitative step or as means of continuing care after inpatient treatment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to Ralph Perdue Center's website, the facility's treatment team includes psychiatric staff, certified chemical dependency counselors, and residential aides trained in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed therapies, and cognitive behavioral therapy. All are expected to have positive experience working with Alaska Native populations.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Ralph Perdue Center serves up to 16 detox clients, 10 residents, and 30 outpatient clients at a time. Transportation to local support meetings and medical appointments is provided. On-site recreational activities include community events, potlatches, and talking circles.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The single former client polled by Rehabs.com to date awarded ratings of four or five out of five stars for all but one of 15 metrics measured. The lower rating was for holistic therapy offerings, which are emphasized by the Ralph Perdue Center's online material. Aspects of accommodations, including meals, exercise, and leisure activities, all fared favorably. The alum rated the centrality of 12-step and faith-based concepts four stars apiece. They highlighted the staff as collaborative and friendly and treatment as affordable, citing aftercare as a weakness.

At the time of this writing, Google had two maximum five-star ratings for Ralph Perdue Center, neither including written comments, and one review granting just one star and describing the program as a "joke."[1]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At time of writing there has been only one friend or family member polled by Rehabs.com. The loved ones left positive reviews, though did abstained from rating a number of metrics. The loved one gave high four out of five star ratings for the facility's cleanliness and affordability, and indicated that they thought treatment was worth the cost. In their commentary, the loved one stated that the treatment was "very successful," for about a year, but that their loved one eventually relapsed.

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided on the facility's website regarding the cost of treatment at Ralph Perdue Center. However, the site does indicate that FNA receives state grants and income from Indian Health Services.

Class schedules, off campus AA & NA meetings. Affordable and friendly staff. Getting me hooked up with a longer residential treatment centers. I refused outpatient care. I loved the councilor's, they are %100 team work.
